If magi traditionally have only one heir, wouldn't that mean that their numbers would be dramatically reduced each generation, especially considering how prone they are to murdering each other? If they wish to reach the Root, which of course they do as magi, then they would have to do it in a way that stabilizes their numbers so that they can continue their project for as long as it takes, centuries or entire millennia if need be. Even becoming a dead apostle like NRVNQSR or Roa can only get you so far.
