Auto leveling and slow-ass combat killed the game.
Every time you want to go back to the beautiful world of Wizardry 8 you don't do it because of these two things.
What a shame.

Wizardry 8 still is the best blobber that has a party with actual personality.
the real issue was the balancing.
like a lot of old CRPGs, there are gimped character options that basically only exist to be the wrong choice. Psionics could have used a big bump.

Just download the Wizardry 8 extender (it’s totally not a virus I checked) and you can speed up combat by like 800%. Made the opening areas a lot faster to play which is all I’ve played so far.

The thing I hate about blobbers is being given an encyclopedia's worth of shit to sift through during character creation before you even understand what the game consists of.
The manual only goes so far to explain what you are looking at, it's not going to tell you X/Y/Z is worthless past hour 2.
