Ashes of Creation (hailed as the "savior of MMOs" by many) is now on Steam Early Access

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4124950/Ashes_of_Creation/

How big of a shitshow will this be? Game has been in development for nearly a decade, charging $100-$500 alpha access and is still very, very far from finished, even in an enjoyable playable state. It will likely get reviewbombed due to people expecting at least a playable game and not testing one.

yeah, the op talking about an upcoming game negatively is totally an ad

ugly and janky. basically western black desert online.

I was happy to call the retards who bought Alpha keys retards for paying upwards of $500 to playtest an alpha likely believing that it was going to be an early access soft launch of the game, including one YouTuber having a full blown public crash out over the alpha being an alpha and not early access.

But if they're going to do a legitimate Early Access, they had better have some huge update in the works, because the game in its current state is NOT ready for early access. EA is, like I said, essentially an earlybird soft launch of the game, and the game does NOT appear to be in a playable state from what I've seen so far. It's in an alpha state. You do not release an actual alpha into early access.

The strat is to make the OP negative so you can "chime in" and post a bunch of positive things about it in the thread.

Where has OP "chimed in?"
>>
>mmorpgs are the most fun on launch
>devs run years long early access before launch making most of the playerbase veterans
>the actual 1.0 launch will have a bunch of people who know everything about the game and drain all the fun from it
brilliant business strategy

We haven't gotten that far yet, now that it has been exposed it will probably just 404
>>
>>725966446
So basically. any discussion of a game on /v/ is considered an ad.

>>725965569
They have less than a month til the early access starts, so I doubt it won't change much.

Yeah, even if this games turns out a success, all the people that played the alphas and betas with prior knowledge are going to ruin it and run the economy and lands.

>business strategy
It is, all those veterans have paid hundreds to play and new players that don't know any better will be paying a lot too.
They're maximising profits with a game that realistically isn't going to ever compete or last. There's no real long term business on newer mmorpgs so you have to farm the short term.

From what I understand the game has changed on a fundamental level several times
If that's true it'll be completely different yet again
Hell they even made it into a medieval action battleroyale or some shit and then shut it down
These people are insane

>(hailed as the "savior of MMOs" by many)
who are??
>>
>>725965569
Context matters. I think they basically gave up. Steven probably lost morale years ago at this point. PoE2 is basically a released game and calling it an early access game is just weird. Ashes however is like you said it is. If people see it, sure it's an injection of money, but it will kill the game as well. No way they don't understand that.

just hit me with the asmon verdict
