Why does cornering at 100 km/h feel like a crawl in racing games?
idk i have never bothered to go 100mph on my 1992 toyota tercel at 60mph the whole car shakes though
>>725965646because you're a dumb broccoli head zoomer
>>725965646wider maps
>>725965646Because you're not driving the car in real life. But also because of FOV, track width, forward view, density of stuff on the sides to provide a point of reference for your speed, effects like depth of field etc.
>>725966089automobilista 2 and kunos games feature laser scanned tracksgran turismo doesnt because kazujiro motherfuckwhoiro is a faggot cuck scammer
Because Europeans need retarded units of measurement to make it seem like they're going fast when this is just average highway speeds in the United States.
I wish AMS2 had those Bow cars
anyone try wide FOV VR? does it feel noticeably faster?only tried vive
>>725965646>100 kmhget your foot down you fairy
>>725966193>automobilista 2 and kunos games feature laser scanned tracksjust because they are laser scanned doesn't mean they can't be "adjusted for better experience"forza also has "laser-scanned tracks" and has been caught making tracks wider and cars smaller
>>725965646I haven't tried any VR driving games, but my personal bet is FOV and depth-perception. I also cannot keep a car on the road in a game like I can in real life. So sense of speed or where the car is at all. If I had to drive through a screen I'd be more of a menace on the road than an asian woman.
>>725968896I tried Pimax Crystal Super U L T R A W I D E with advertised 140* HFOV.they lied about the fov. most people get 110*, which is just slightly above the meta quest 3, but everything above 30* is blurry and full of chromatic aberration
>>725965940Right now I drive a car that's basically a box, anything above 120km/h starts getting scary, any bump in the road or gust of wind feels like it's going to buck you into the ditch, but going fast in a car that's made to go fast feels like nothing.>>725969217This. When you crank up your FOV slider in a shooter it feels like you're motoring even though you're going the same speed as people on 90FOV. I also think it's cause OP is in an F1 car and really low to the ground and you also don't feel inertia when you're driving in a video game
>>725965646>100 km/hHURRY UP PLEASE
>>725965646it depends on field of view and camera position and camera effectsyou don't want high fov for simulators but then you'd need triple monitors or vr to compensate for the lack of peripheral visionarcade racing games can get away with cranking up the fov
>>725965646>100 km/hThat isn't fast, what did you expect 100 kmh to feel like?
For me, its a train of GT3s swimming through V4 BMWs.https://youtu.be/fa-sWPXRwh0https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHXXWVhQp7M
>>725972026>HRT MustangStill the funniest race team name of the modern era
>going 250km/h in a porshe panamera or even a basic E-class merc>i sleep>going 230km/h in a '98 merc slk>gotta grab the steering wheel with both hands and focus>going 180km/h in a golf III>LORD HELP ME
30 mph in a Model T would kill you and feels like the world is coming apart IRL.
>>725965646old consoles couldnt handle it. a similar thing to spider man web traversal
>>725971452This anon gets it.
>>72596564610 years ago I used to think these games were for autists and now all I play these days is Assetto Corsa, going round trying to improve my times on the Nürburgring in an Aston Martin.
>>725973317driving can be fun and relaxing :)
>>725965646Dude it's le heckin burger ring
>>725965646You can't feel the wind, the rattling, the bumps
>>725968896I play with VR and a motion sim platform. I simply can't go back. It does not make be drive any better though but it amplifies the fun.
>>725973976>I play with VR and a motion sim platformkek imagine the söy smell
Tiny FOV makes everything slow.
For me, its BathurstYes, I did use this video to memorize the trackhttps://youtu.be/YGykmw1M_Y4
>>725971452my dream setup is triple 42" OLED TV's for asseto corsa and truck sims, but i cant imagine dropping $9000 on TV's and GPUs.also im a lazy bitch and don't like setting up wheels pedal and shifter every time i feeling like sim racing. Sim rigs are just way too expensive and it'd be something i'd see myself using alot for the first few weeks then see it just collect dust
>>725976391VR. You want to have a full sense of your wheel placement and which competitors are to the side and behind you.
>>725976391>OLEDs
>>725968932If I do that the car spins out.
>>725965646Limited FOV (console games are the worst offenders since you usually can't even edit the settings), lack of G forces and vibrations under your butt, sounds not loud enough, modern real tracks having no objects zooming next to you due to safety concerns.Don't fall for VR, it also lacks later vision, a triple 42'' set-up will do the trick for the most part though.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1siFqR8Z3-c
>>725965646Hitting an off ramp at 100kmh isn't that thrilling irl either.
