be honest, did you beat it? how far did you get?why has nothing else come close?
>>725970623As a kid never. 15 years later i could and still using 3 different guides to train.
Never beat it, but saw everything but the final area I think. Think the only ultimates I ever managed to get were Monzaemon and Vademon.
>>725970623I couldn't get to Ogremon's base because my disc would consistently freeze there, so I'd just start over or train up different digis for the arena
>>725970623>did you beat ityes>how far did you get100 prosperity, maybe a few medals>why has nothing else come closea product of its time in many waysno one can do crunchy prerendered stuff like this anymoreyou can't have mysteries and esoteric conditions because it's all datamined nowit also doesn't sell that well
>>725970623100% older teen young adult age. Best psone game imo
I lost interest when I got to the snow area.
I don't think I beat it as a kid, but I might've made it to Mt. Infinity, not sure. Later on I learned how the mechanics worked and have since replayed it to completion many times. Love the game.
>>725970623With GameFAQS.Before that I tried beating it just with schoolyard rumors. Didn't get so far.
>>725971983>Before that I tried beating it just with schoolyard rumors. That sounds like peak SOUL for an esoteric bullshit game like Digimon World 1 though
>>725970623>did you beat it? Beat the thing.>how far did you get?100 prosperity and 2 of the Mugendramon rematches.>why has nothing else come close? It's a niche genre that barely exists, so there's no market for it and no people who know how to make one.
>>725970623I didn't beat it and I forget how far I got into it.
What wwas your first Perfect stage digimon? Mine was Metal Mamemon.
>>725970623I did at 16 years old, because when I was 9 I got the game in spanish and that version has a bug that won't let you enter the final stage behind the waterfall. Many years later I got the english version and beat it.
>>725970623I've beaten it and got most of the medals that don't require a large amount of time to get (ones like all Digivolutions and all the different tournaments.) Though I'd say getting to the end, beating Machinedramon, and recruiting all available Digimon are the real ways to beat the game, and everything else is just a bonus.Kind of hoping that one day someone just makes a mod that lets you pick whatever Rookie you want at the start rather than needing to change it via a program. That's one of the only annoyances I have still. Maeson was alright but not fully what I was looking for.
>be honest, did you beat it?No, I had the PAL versionBut I got stuck way before that
>>725978197andromonhe just seems really easy to get for some reason
>>725970623A couple times when I was 12.Alright, it was me and my younger brother together, but still.
>>725978197AndromonYes, he is in fact easy to get.
>>725970623Now that's a true kusoge.
>>725970623The furthest I got was reaching some junkyard area in the north-west of the map and then the digimon I had been using up until that point evolved into the shitmon and I got pissed and quit.
Honestly I wish I could bother emulating the game just to cheat the shit out of it and get to just fuck around the map looking for shit. I remember reaching the snow area and then my metalseadramon anheroed so that was the extent of my patience as a kiddo
I never beat it as a kidMy digimon would always become the poop digimon. Then I would train it a ton, explore the world and eventually it would evolve to something completely random.I remember getting as far as that haunted house or whatever fucking mansion area and that's where I stopped
I did beat it, but I'm pretty sure I used a Gameshark to do it. My most vivid memory of the game is trying to beat the fucking curling minigame against Penmon and it apparently never occurred to me to save scum it.
The store manning segment broke my will
>>725970623Beat it as a kid because a friend kept pointing me in the right direction whenever I got lost
>>725970623I beat it and relied on using the slime into the monkey digimon and exploiting the infinite money at the bird's shop mini game. Also no game has ever come close to how fun this is in a long time.
I loved playing curling with Penmon.
>>725970623I think I had one of the bugged copies
>>725970623I only managed to beat it once some years ago after the datamine explained in full detail how the raising simulator actually worked. Like how techniques were acquired and so on. Before my best run was a Metalgreymon that got me all the way to the last dungeon but died and I could never ever recover. It was later made apparent to me how items just were randomly generated in fixed spots at fixed ratios too so fucking Tyrannomon wasn't starving anymore since getting him digishrooms became super easy. I never knew it worked like that before.
>>725970623>did you beat it?yes, it's not hard>how far did you get?when I was a kid I didn't know about there being 100 prosperity so I just went into infinity mountain when it opened >why has nothing else come close?most of it's contemporaries also lost relevancy, there's probably no one in the entire industry that can make a game like this anymore, the moon rpg sequel just came out and it'd dead on the water, no one cares about this kind of game anymore, at best you get the newer world games that just lean into the storytelling and being a straight forward rpg with the monster raising mechanics
>>725984519>the moon rpg sequel just came out and it'd dead on the waterI'm gonna buy it but I'm still making my way through Moon on JP, it's gonna take a bit.
bump, can't let actual vidya discussion die
>>725984519nothing else could come close simply because it would get datamined instantly and lose all appeal. For example Void Stranger had a lot of esoteric shit but then the datamine happened and the mysteries were solved. 1 month of blind gameplay at best is what you can get these days meanwhile this game was a closed pandora box for a lot of years.
Play the maeson rom hack if you want to beat digimon world easily.
>>725970623I like the idle animation that your partner metalgreymon does when it likes you.
>Did you beat itNope, filtered.>How far did you getI beat the lava-guy man and more or less got stuck.
>>725978197mega seadramon
>>725970623>how far did you get?Not far. I only ever played it at a friend's house and I don't think he ever really knew what to do. I occasionally think about it because even in short bursts of doing nothing I remember that game being fun. I'm currently doing Cyber Sleuth and I'll do HM after, I might try DW1 after that.
>>725978197I could be misremembering, but I think it was Megadramon. It was either that or Metal Mamemon. My most common ones were Andromon, Metal Mamemon, Megadramon, and Metal Greymon, I think.I somehow once got a Hououmon I'm pretty sure.
Playing this as a kid without any guide is suffering as fuck. As a kid I didn't see much point in battling and thinks training is all that matter. Never enough time exploring because of that, digimon didn't evolve and died early etc. Once I learned that battling is the way to go, and training is just to add the stat needed to digivolve to a certain digimon you want, the game got a lot easier. So yes, it does take a while, but I did defeat it as a kid.
>>725978197MetalMamemon for me as well, digivolved from Monochromon.>>725996196Megadramon is my favorite. Full Potential and Ice Statue, what's not to love
>>725984519>there's probably no one in the entire industry that can make a game like this anymoreyeah I I asked my dad about this and he started crying "We can't, we no longer possess the technology..."
>>725970623wtf I just beat this game yesterday for the first time. fun game but can get REALLY frustrating in the beginning. once you cheese it in mid game and find the really good digimons in your city it becomes a breeze.>why has nothing else come close?is this a meme question because honestly i'd say another game plays significantly better and was more enjoyable to play.>ctrl+f>0 resultsreally? I'm not even trying to be coy with this either.
>>725970623>why has nothing else come close? They did twice, they just didn't hold a candle to the original.
>>725970623Lol no. Only played it as a babby ESL and I understood nothing. No matter what I tried I could only get the poopmon so eventually I just stopped trying entirely.
>>725970734>>725970881>>725971647>>725980524>>725981919>>725982698>>725982849>>725984276>>725992636>>725996404holy fuck I didn't realize how retarded people are. Digimon World is my favourite game of all time and I was able to beat it when I was 8 with no guide. no wonder Digimon never took off, despite delivering on absolute kino.
>>725997558>played a mod and used a guideNo wonder you don't understand the magic of the game. Go back to the year 2000 and try again.
>>725970623>uncmon slopThis is now a Time Stranger thread.
>>725970623I remember going on a weeklong vacation and had just gotten the furthest I've ever gone (at that point). I was in the mansion and nowhere near a save so I just left it running that week and was shocked and happy that it was still there.
