As far back as at least Ocarina, Hylians were portrayed as wildly different shades of mutant in both skin tone and facial features. This was exacerbated in MM and really started ramping up in diversity with WW and TP. You'd have to be a fucking retarded secondary or someone who fell into a coma after LttP to think Hyrule has always been some heterogeneous setting.

It is and isn't, hyrule is a federation of several vassal races but they all keep to themselves. in ocarina you can't go into goron city or zoras domain (note how these place names are defined by race) without being a royal messenger, kokiri forest is blocked by magic wall and the gerudo deport you on sight if you come in uninvited. it's insanely based
