>the PS5 has emerged as the winner against the Xbox Series X, outselling Microsoft’s game console by a huge margin.

>Where Microsoft has fumbled again and again—trying to turn Xbox into the “Netflix of gaming” with Game Pass, Sony has expertly navigated the same industry challenges with smart expansions for its PlayStation brand

>Sony’s biggest threat isn’t a new Xbox or the Switch 2—it’s Valve’s newly announced Steam Machine that’s launching in early 2026

>The difference is that Sony is not handing out its games to PC before it has milked them out on PS5 first. Well-reviewed games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 released on PS5 in October 2023, but only on PC in January 2025
>Sony wants gamers playing its games is on its own PlayStation consoles. PC is not an equal citizen; it’s second-class.

normies are dumb niggercattle and will reject the new steam box for not being a closed down walled garden piece of shit

They're blowing so much hot air up Valve's ass lol. No one cares about the new toy or the deck. Loud, loud minority.

>normies are dumb niggercattle and will reject the new steam box for not being a closed down walled garden piece of shit
Yeah, they'll just reject it for being a piece of shit.
>>
whoa... a prebuilt PC is coming out next year...

I'm more insulted by the fact that they're ignoring the fact that Nintendo is crushing both Sony and Microsoft.
>>
>>725977063
The PS5 didn't destroy Xbox. Xbox destroyed itself back during E3 2013 and never recovered from it.

>this machine that costs more and requires you to install a different os to play the games that console players play but worse is a threat!!!

Um, sure.

No more Sony single player exclusives to PC, only live service games.

Because Sony isn't competing with Nintendo, Nintendo don't have any high-end gaming/multimedia devices unlike Xbox and PC.

xbox self-destructed 72 times in a row

Nintendo hasn't competed with Sony/Microsoft since like Gamecube lol, they appeal basically entirely to toddlers and grandmas now.

Tell that to the entire Japanese market lmao. They're both game consoles, the idea that they're not competitors has always been cope.

The steam machine is confirmed to be weaker than the ps5 but sure...nintendo doesn't count because you said so I guess lol

>There’s no telling what will happen in the future, but looking back at the past five years of PS5, it’s clear that Sony did good by gamers. Really f*cking good, for the most part.

>A PlayStation will always primarily be a console that sits under your TV first, but it’s now also a family of devices that orbit it and any gaming PCs that can play its exclusive titles

>Sony is winning physical and psychological mindshare with PS5- and PC-compatible hardware

Uh-huh. All DLC canceled btw.

People are overstating Valve's impact and understating Microsoft's. They're both part of the puzzle. Yes, the Xbox Series flopped but that's motivated Microsoft to retreat into the prebuilt PC space (they're making their own Steam Machine-like device) and take their considerable publisher share with them. Be it Xbox's desperation or Valve's opportunism, they're both aligned in that they believe in and desire to hasten the transition to a post-console future.

Several years from now, there will be a marketplace full of multipurpose Steam Machine-like devices advertising the same convenient console experience WHILE also functioning as a desktop PC. If Sony ports all their games day-and-date to PC then it's only a matter of time before their customer base realizes the PlayStation is just a gimped PC. They've realized they need to copy the Nintendo model and sell their console on the strength of their exclusives and brand.

They stand zero chance, even if they had a store-front remotely competitive with Steam, Windows OS is simply too sluggish and embarrasing next to the lightning fast performance of Linux, and that matters a ton when going for cut down hardware.
>>
>>725981680
If it were that big of a deal then Windows wouldn't be the dominant platform on personal computers. Tech nerds exaggerate how much this shit matters to consumers simply because Windows is uniquely frustrating for technical customization and development. But as a normie consumer, it's fine and familiar.

The handheld thing no one cared about? Pro minus a disk drive? PSVR2? I actually googled this and got
>As of March 18, 2024, Bloomberg reported that Sony has paused the manufacture of PSVR2 after making well over 2 million units.
So much of this is "oh yeah, remember that"

Steam machine isnt gonna compete with shit because valve is too greedy to price it competetively

Please, Valve will never come close to Playstation's brand recognition
