I've never given a single shit about the hair loss. It suits the image of the Nerd losing his hair along with his mind at how long he's been raging at video games. But the real disappointment is just that: he isn't raging as hard as he used to because he's a dad now and doesn't have the energy that he used to. That hurts more than any baldness.
