yup mesh is best, i bought one and actually think its better than my herman miller 1700 dollar chair

staples has way better warranty and customer service. easy to clean the mesh, way better breathability and comfort for hot weather

yeah arm rests go to shit, also the head rest mine came with never once worked, was missing some screws.
like 3+ years later i called them about the arm rests and was still under warranty and they sent new arm rests and head rest for free

for herman miller your ass is buying third party head rests that suck worse than staples ones and the arm rests suck ass , bought cushions for it and they still suck. I need to like buy a washable removeable cover for this next because its started to stink and theres like no way to actually clean it properly

Maybe. I've contemplating getting the Logitech branded Herman Miller chair: Embody. But I don't know if I can justify spending the money. On the other hand I think these even more 'premium' office chairs look like a peasants alternative to some really high price comfy executive office chair. They don't look comfortable to sit in, none of the Herman Miller stuff actually looks pleasant to sit in. I can already feel my back being uncomfortable. I Will post an example of why I think these kinds of chairs might be a waste of money in comparison to. Although if anyone has an embody in this thread let me know what your thoughts of it are. Because I'm still interested in a second opinion.

I have an Embody (that one, actually) and while the back support is good, the cushioning on the seat itself sucks. My fat ass needs an extra seat cushion to be comfortable on it. I think if I had to do it again, I would go with a Steelcase. I will say that their warranty support is excellent. They recently sent me two new arm pads since the others were deteriorating. They sent them out in like two days.

These don't come from "office buildings." They come from small offices, and the kind that buy that sort of furniture (instead of the cheapest furniture that they can find), and then have a mass sell-off after a few years of light use, don't really exist outside of California, Washington and Austin. Random cubiclefags in Idaho don't get a god damn Embody.

>the cushioning on the seat itself sucks
I just don't like the general idea of how much cushioning it lacks. Both on the back and on the seat. I suppose there's a very specific purpose to Herman Miller's chairs about fixing your posture. But I gotta also be able to slouch sometimes too if I've been doing menial tasks in games (like grinding in an mmo) that requires endless amounts of boring commands or minimal input that I can go half into lazy half awake mode. If I can't ever slouch without it being comfortable then it's a nightmare. Embody is the only more popular chairs of theirs that looks acceptable to me. The Aeron actually looks worse. The embody would look a little more acceptable if it was just a tiny big more thicker.

I really don't understanding how people think Aerons are accommodating for gaming. There is inevitably a time where you will change how you sit when you're playing a game. That's for long durations too. The most obvious thing to mention is whether a game has grinding for XP. Your posture at that point does not require being upright because your brain is subconsciously inactive or in a half active state. It's tiring to keep your posture up for long durations like that in which the interactivity is minimal or subdued.

They aren't designed for slouching. They're designed to keep your spine somewhat aligned when you specifically have your back fully to the rear, both hands on a keyboard/mouse, sitting up straight, for hours at a time, multiple days a week.
They charge a premium for them, because OTs recommend them for that purpose.
Them being comfortable for gamers is purely coincidental.

I understand their purpose. Just don't understand why online in gaming communities people started recommending them as if they were acceptable in this area. It's not a good gaming chair at all, that's why they're used in office workplaces.

Subjective view, I don't think forced sitting position chairs should ever be discussed in recommendations towards gamers.
>>
>>725999689
Pretty much. You CAN be comfortable with a wooden chair and a cushion, as long as you contort yourself to find something that works.
The whole point of office chairs, and why they charge so much for them is the money that went into developing a shape that works specifically for one posture, that is statistically shown to reduce long term injury/pain in a specific professional environment.
Anything outside of that, and you're paying for fairy dust.
>>
>>725999920
No, the point of office chairs is the build quality. Cheap chairs break in 2 years while the professional ones come with a 10 year warranty. Sitting in the same position will cause damage no matter what it is. It's a meme.
>>
>>726000087
You can get perfectly solid chairs for way less than $1000.

>>
>>726000175
No you can't. Nothing compares with Herman Miller's build quality. There's a clear separation between the premium brands and everyone else.
>>
>>726000332
I mean, if you want to pay more for peace of mind, you're definitely free to.
I'm just saying that a good chunk of the money in a brand new herman miller chair is going towards covering their development costs, that the average gamer won't appreciate, rather than pure material costs.

I got mine only a few months ago and it has a multitude of problems, mainly that it isn't level and the headrest/arms always sink.
I can only assume they make them immensely cheaper now yet its still roughly $175
>>
>>726000515
Oh no, you're definitely paying a luxury premium. But it's also true that these chairs are on a different class. The "cheaper" luxury chairs are nowhere close. You're better off going with cheap Staples chairs and replacing them every 2 years.

Why does everyone prefer these expensive ego chairs in comparison to equally pricey but still cheaper executive office chairs? all of Herman Millers chairs look like cheap crap in comparison to a majority of chairs like 500 bucks below its price range. It's adjustability I guess?

>>726001230
Because we actually used them. The second-tier 500$ types are crap used to trap retards like you.

I cant play games sitting at a PC, It's too uncomfortable and that takes me out of the experience.

The only experience I can have to enjoy video games is some sort of monitor mount about my bed with a controller.
>>
>>726001230
Adjustability's a big one, yeah.
There's an untapped market for comfortable, adjustable chairs for people who sit like this for peak performance though, so there's something to think about.

i like it a lot, there's a lab at work with like 8 of them (the more basic version without the digital knit fabric) so i got to try it before buying
the back is super flexible, it's comfy when sitting upright and proper or lower in the chair and leaned back a bit more
also was able to find a local retailer who ordered the lumbar piece which i added
the forward tilt feature is great too
my previous desk chair was the colamy atlas which for the price is pretty solid, and my work chair is a haworth zody

>Steelcase
>biodegradable plastics
Yeah nah. I fell for the premium office chair meme when I got my first remote job. They're designed to fall apart within 3 years to maintain revenue from businesses. They're garbage chairs designed to fail. I had a Think v2 and luckily realized before it was completely falling apart, glued it together and sold it to some retard on craigslist for exactly what I paid. These things are a SCAM. Steelcase is one of the WORST offenders. At least the Herman Miller Aeron is built like a fucking tank and will last a solid decade.
>>
>>725995126
The human body was designed to be constantly in motion.
Your next posture is your best posture and a good office chair will accommodate changing how you sit while guiding you to postures that aren't harmful.

I had a Leap for a while and it was hurting my ass bones since I'd always end up feeling the hard plastic underneath the cushioning. Tried the Fern too for a bit in a store but ended up feeling the same issue creeping up.
Ended up going back to using an HM Embody.
>>
>>725985515
Are these even a thing in Norway? I've never heard of anything like it and google isn't any help
>>
I love my Aeron so much it's unreal. After 20 years of use the mesh started failing, so I spent 150 bucks on replacements. I should probably buy another set so I still have them in 20 years, who knows what will happen to the prices as they're slowly replaced by the "remastered" chink versions.
>>
>>726007975
Issue I see with the HM Embody is that the backrest is just too thin. And the fern gets closer to where I want it to be. Which is why I literally have not been able to make a decision on a chair for a long time. Since from what I've heard sitting on the HM embody is comfortable yet the fern is not.
>>
anons, whats the best thing to use to stop my chair rolling around
>>
>>726009717
Take the wheels off. Put blocks of wood under it so it's no longer on the wheels. Use a piece of wood to block the wheels from rolling back (I've used this with load cell pedals on a sim rig). Shove socks in the wheels to block them up so they no longer roll.

Buy real leather. Honestly, I went through a few pleather arm rests too, but thankfully the OEM pads for my chair are actual leather. Not "genuine leather", real leather, still as hardwearing as the day I bought them.

Most "leather" products you can buy these days are fake garbage.

>RH Logic 400
Great chair for adjustability, but it got pretty warm, and while it was cheap refurbished, it was cheap for a reason, the condition wasn't really great, and the armrest started falling on their own. Still works mostly alright, but would require to replace the armrests.
>Herman Miller Mirra 2 (butterfly back)
Bought refurbished as well, current chair, and it's starting to fail after 5 years of use, the back is starting to crack. Otherwise great chair, the only thing I wish it had was a headrest.
