Weirdly enough though after all the side content, a handful of NG+ and a couple of lets plays, that feeling has completely gone and I'm right back to experiencing the game from the point of view of the painting and its inhabitants, their world and experiences being as real as ours within the context of their story, and the Dessendres being all powerful gods with mysterious intentions. The "they're painted therefore not real" argument just doesn't resonate with me any more, even remotely. For all we know, and as many physicists would actually theorize, our real universe could be nothing more than an nth-dimensional quantum probability matrix, and may well exist upon something the size of a strand of hair within the greater cosmos. The concept of dimensional space may not even be a coherent concept out there. Makes fuck all difference as to whether or not we and our lives are real, and the same can be said for the people in the game, regardless of whether they're made from chroma or carbon.

Gustave's death is the most hacky shit i've seen in a while. i know a lot of /v/ is zoomers but jesus christ get some standards. think for yourself! There's this character whose motive is to prevent you and your party from reaching the monolith, because he wants his painted family to live as long as possible. His first scene is massacring everyone. And then he shows up at your camp, and can seemingly appear wherever. But he never kills anyone on his own convenience; only on the plot's convenience. Expedition 33 is okay but it's being glazed by actual 0 IQ people. It's not hard to make serious criticisms of both the story and gameplay. You just have to think for one second about any of these things and people are failing to do so. You're all gimp slaves for "the narrative"
