I miss when mods used to publicly ban people for being retarded

i would like this game a lot more if it wasnt for the reddit writing

You read the dialogue in video games? Why?

game's alright but I always felt like I wasn't going quite as fast as I wanted to, it should've had bunnyhopping or something

made a thread yesterday. truly a confluence of shit that turned into one of my favorite games of all time. the "story" is not so bad it's good it just sucks, artstyle (not ingame) sucks, framing the weapons as cards is retarded for no reason. but actually being in game is incredible, levels ramped up so well, my second playthrough was truly incredible.

never got around to actually trying to speedrunning through the modes that unlock after you beat it, but I did plat/red every level on my second playthrough. great game, hope they make something fast paced for their next game

Not having this is the genius bit, your momentum entirely depends on how you interact with the course and how friction in the game works. For example in the webm we set up a bullet parry over the chest, then jump after godspeed to preserve momentum, bullet parry on the ground and THEN jump since parry speed boosts on the ground give you more speed to cancel friction. It basically turns the ground into an obstacle. If we could bhop at any time this density of gameplay interaction would not be possible.

Found this shortcut myself. Got a red time despite some misses

It's kinda neat how you have so much freedom to do shit that half the levels have like 5 different ways to beat the dev time.
>>
It's fucking great

It seems like it would be hard to keep track of the cards. Normally in a card game you have unlimited time to think.

The cards are just your weapon slots. You can either fire the weapon normally or break it to do a special ability like a double jump. Its difficult to manage intentionally, because you must learn routing to minimize mental stack. You can pretty much route any level in a couple minutes easily. Initially this game was designed as a puzzle game, and the bones of that are still there in the routing. Its a great game for introducing people to how traditional arcade style games work and how to git gud at them. Its like baby steps working towards more and more impressive shit. I have great fun going back to it every couple of months and beating all my friends times again, or just improving on my own times. And since weapons are something separate for each level, level designers can control what you're juggling in each level without things becoming immediately overwhelming.

The shadow the hedgehog game should have played like this.

I'm glad I gave the game a chance after watching the first hour. All I heard and the game's description made me think it was speedrunning in the way of Mario64 and the like, but it's actually more of a puzzle game with every level having a small hidden shortcut or a way to complete it that isn't something you'll see at first glance without even needing to have good reflex to get the gold time, and you only need the ace on half the levels or a mix of ace and gold to complete the game
