I can tell what went wrong here. This was re-done from the ground up with Japanese intervention after the game got rebooted. This sort of cast reveal, is typical of Japanese animation studios who make a cast of characters first. Other M had the same issues. This is probably the origin of the bland levels as well (ice, lava, electric, jungle), where this hypothetical company was put in charge of concepts and design to ease the development time of the reboot. Tldr: An anime studio got involved.

There’s another problem with Prime 4 though, and that’s the speed of combat.FPS movement has evolved over the years. Look at Apex, Halo Infinite, Destiny 2, Call of Duty. The same movement and controls exist for Prime 4, which were all based on the GameCube’s “limited” controls for the genre. Same with RE4.Think of it like Deus Ex to Human Revolution. There’s a shift in speed and mobility there. There’s none of that here in Prime 4. Enemies still move like before, lock on exists, the arm canon feels meek. Now none of this matters to much to us, but onboarding new players? Have fun.
