Tbh there is also Darkan which a 2012 version of the game but I think that's a bit TOO far. This is after they fucked up the art style of some things and more. 2010 or 2011 WITHOUT DUNGEONEERING would be ideal.

I also didn't sell all my gear before the update dropped because I was somewhere optimistic, so my bank value got decimated. You could just see the playercount drop in real time. The botting situation was much worse back then and unless you'd play in unpopulated niche servers (like Brazilian ones where you'd have them empty lots of time because of time zones), so it would be really difficult to raise your skills or do slayer tasks, wildy was dead and the trade limit was bullshit that everybody hated, and Jagex also were much more incompetent back then because you'd get easy bans for abusing bugs that occurred often as the game was generally lot more buggy because of spaghetti code that was only fixed around 2011-2012.I remember having to schedule my playtime just to level Slayer and Mining because bots would be swarming iron rocks and mobs like dragons or lesser demons.
