It's not a loop, it's a spiral.The game is pretty good but you NEED to play A.Wake 1 and American Nightmare, it doesn't do any harm to play Control either. They play with the narrative and the gameplay and the narrative are intertwined, if you don't understand the story you won't like the game. Go into it knowing that A.Wake was a game released in 2010 and the other game is a direct sequel to it. The story is superb, the presentation is amazing, there are some really funny meta shit, it was one of the most fun games i've ever played.Also, the true ending is only shown on the second playthrough. It's not necessarily MINDBLOWING to warrant a second playthrough, the game is the same on another platyrgh except for the ending, so i'd recommend you just watch it on Youtube if you are not going for platinum or something.
