Why are there no good space sims?
>>
>>726003427
I love X4
>>
>>726003427
there are several. you're too dopey to warrant a reply
>>
Because space is infinite and boring. Planets are like 99.9999% uninhabitable or just barren rocks. And it would be impossible to make a science fantasy space sim interesting (No Man's Sky).
>>
currently playing both x4 and e:d
i can say x4 is more arcadey flying, but managing fleet and base is okay,
e:d is more simulator, and has okayish on foot combat

Between Space Engineers, X4, Eve Online and SS13 you have 4 great space games.
>>
main issue I keep seeing is they treat "worlds" as any other game would treat a continent/country they cant actually simulate a individual world in a galaxy with its own divided politics. It would get way way too complicated. X4 is really good but still just about jumping from star port to star port not really dealing with different world governments. Its a bit too much to sim for any game and would probably spiral out of control. havent tried stellaris yet with that said.

Because everything fucking interesting takes place on planets. Fucking GTA is a space game. What you're talking about is the niche of boring as fuck vapid void travel which X4, Elite, SC, NMS ect all slop their mouths over and fail to make interesting.
>>
>try playing X4
>controls are fucking horrendous dogshit
>every starting point is just trying to railroad you into the retarded hub spaceport
>even the terran start which makes no sense
>diplomacy update is just more trading dogshit which is the worst part of the game
>game advertises itself as letting you do anything
>99% of content gated behind participating in boring ass trading and spaceport management crap

You posted the only good one.
I really love that kind of a mix where you play as one specific character, but get to actually lead an army/faction. Stuff like your pic, mountain blade, or starsector. Just a great formula.
But it feels like in X4 you quickly run out of things to do on your own. By the late game I spend more time in the menus than actually flying my ship.
>>
I know people like X4 now but I'm curious what its draw is. How does it differ from X3? I know people who like X3 whine about X4 but I assume they just excel in different areas.

i made this thread just so i can get free (yous) when I wake up in the morning

Space is inherently boring. What do you have here besides vistas? Exactly, a big pile of nothing.
>>
All I wanted was Elite Dangerous with the economy and empire building of the X series.
>>
>>726015341
All I wanted was that Elite Dangerous wasn't the most shallow grindy sandbox in history.

You could take the congrols, gameplay and audio from Elite and put it in literally any other space game and it would be x100 better.
>>
I just want someone to make another game like Wing Commander Privateer.
