Meanwhile Fallout 3's just eludes to the tragedy of war, and mentions only the relevant information about vault 101. Fallout 4's adds a bit more context as to why the war is happening, and what it means to your character.
Fallout games are mediocre at best (Fallout 1, 2) and abhorrent dogshit at worst (everything else).
