I do feel like the optics of this game were always gonna be bad. It's the first Assassin's Creed with a black protagonist, but it's also the first Assassin's Creed that takes place in Japan. So you're playing as a roided up black guy running around slaughtering Japs en masse. In their efforts to be woke, they made a game where a 250 lb black guy in full armor is decapitating Japanese shrine maidens a third his size.
