when you think about it the phenomenon of "chonkers" isn't that strangepeople find chubby pets cute, and it's normal for housecats to be a little fatter than their wild counterparts, they're softer and fluffier, so naturally, over time, people would forget the natural way things are supposed to be and have a distorted idea of where cute and chubby ends and where downright obese and sick beginswe see this in humans too, when a chubby woman is considered a sign of health and wealth yet people's brains get all fucked up and they forget where to stop and start liking them fatter and fatterespecially since unlike people, humans aren't naturally disposed to being able to subconciously tell the state of a cat just by looking at it like we are with humans, same reason many people can't tell apart a cat's age or sex without looking at its nutsit's just a shame that it had to become such a trend, and even sadder that you have people doing it on purpose, it's one thing to laugh at a fat cat, it's another kind of stupid to purposefully make it fat because you don't understand its bad for it and that's your idea of "cute", and frankly it's downright evil to do that just for e-clout
