I love all of the cooking scenes. I love all of the characters. I love the vivid descriptions of nightmares.I love the horror and tension. And I love the genuine moments of serenity and the sublime.Nasu is a romanticist and his works follow that style of romanticism and they're good at doing that.This is also something the adaptations fail to convey for the most part. And something that lacks from Fate Zero, even if it's good in its own way.
It's one of the longest VNs out there, probably 3000 to 4000 pages in total. I would not recommend it as a first.

Typically when men write romantic stories they go full horny and largely skip over the all important character interaction and relationship building, but Nasu basically didnt care about the horny stuff that much and focused on the actual good parts. The fact that he clearly enjoys writing both male and female characters helps a lot

The Nasuverse is basically a better version of J.K. Rowling's magical world.Less focused on superficialities like copper pots, woolen clothing and candlelight, more focused on the inner workings of magic and the goals of the magicians.It's what you'd get if a man had written Harry Potter, and as such it's more appealing to men who will always ask questions like "Okay but how DOES the magic work?"Making the servants actual historical figures was also a nice though, and a battle royale is always a good plot device for creating tension.
