>>726016276In my experience, improving physics simulations can easily be done by things like simultaneously increasing the number of simulated bodies, constrains, and solver iterations. However, the perceived quality scales more logarithmically while the processing time scales more exponentially. There are usually some cheap tricks that can help strike a good enough balance of quality and performance, but I doubt there will ever be great improvements made unless in the future everybody has their own personal datacenter and all that processing power is somehow not all hogged by graphics.
