Why is this game giving me an annoying talkative companion? It’s completely ruining the atmosphere and tension the first game had. I’m sick of this Reddit millennial writing, I miss older games.
This game's writing really aged bad
>>726017346>Why does the sequel to the game that invented reddit humour have reddit humor in it?You couldn't have picked a worse exanple you disingenuous retard.
>>726017346Shit comparison, the very first game already had Glados talking your ear off for the entire game
>>726017514Poor bait
>>726017514>invented reddit humourIsn’t that worse if you hate that shit? Yet somehow everyone is fine with it and this is one of the greatest games ever in many’s eyes
>>726017346>I’m sick of this Reddit millennial writingThen why are you playing a sequel to a game that had Reddit millennial writing?
>>726017567Glados was unreliable and obviously had sinister intentions even if she had some dark humor. Portal 2 opens with this guy being an incompetent goofball and cracking jokes in your face for a good chunk
>OP samefagging his entire thread trying to do revisionism on one of the best games ever made
>>726017706Portal wasn't even the best game in The Orange Box.
>>726017748Neither was Half-Life 2.
>>726017706I don’t think OP is actually hating Portal 2. Maybe all the threads have mindbroken me but I think this is supposed to be about the Metroid Prime 4 redditor guy?
>>726017698>Wheatly>reliableThe guy's a nincompoop
>>726017698>obviously had sinister intentionsGlados INVENTED the idea of the 'tutorial voice is actually evil' trope, or at the very least popularized it. You're only saying that from the hindsight of modern times
>>726017346You'll understand when you get to That Part
>>726017514Wheatley's whole point is that he's a LITERAL moron. A low IQ idiot robot who is in denial about it. His whole purpose was to be stupid and have terrible ideas. The people who do unironic "reddit writing" think that their characters are witty, clever, charismatic or likeable.>>726017638>have to use someone losing his mind as an example of "reddit writing"
>>726018416anon, they didnt play the game, they dont care about the game, they would not understand the satire in the game
>>726017514was "the cake is a lie" line supposed to be humorous? it's hard to tell in hindsight considering how much it's been memed, but I'm pretty sure the intention was for it to look deranged and foreshadowing, when you first realize you're stuck inside these tests against your will
>>726018193That Part shouldn't have been so funny but the way it's delivered with the dialogue, the title drop and then the achievement popping destroys my sides every time
>>726020327Not at all, if anything finding it on the wall is supposed to be unnerving, its the first major sign somethings wrong in the same chamber that also confirms this place is accepting the use of live rounds on you, it makes aperture actively dangerous
>>726017748>>726017783Yes because it was Team Fortress 2
>>726020327Like most memes, it was not an intentional one. It was supposed to convey how fucked up the place actually is by showing someone sneaking through the walls to avoid GLaDOS as they descend into insanity.
>>726017346Nah Wheatley's funny, he's both well written and voice acted, although the dialogue segments all over the game being unskippable is a glaring flaw
