It uses the two bottom passthrough cameras, it looks wonky because they have to apply depth correction because the eye spacing is wrong and there may be some edge distortion going on. I can cover each camera one and a time and still see like covering one eye. If it was only using one camera your external view would be shifted over a few inches to one side, and it would just look like life was a giant black and white theater screen. It would be very noticeable and less useable.
