>protag is a one-dimensional female-approved softboy>his only dialogue is "hey, check out my gimmick!" and "the bad guys are bad."Your game is dogshit. Learn to write.A good protagonist has flaws, beliefs, opinions, convictions. He has character. He has soul.It ties him to the story, it drives his actions and words, it binds him to the other characters and the events that are unfolding. It's a role-playing game and yet the role I am expected to play is "boring six-piece chicken mcnobody with the MacGuffin?"And let me guess, his personality is "I believe in my friends" and "we should do the right thing".Yeah, it's dogshit.Dialogue may include:>"haha, uhh... erm...">"Yeah, I agree. the bad guys ARE bad">"Wait... I'M the chosen one? but... but I'm just a normal guy with no stakes. Why did the MacGuffin choose ME??">"hey check out my flute skills / diving costume / other character gimmick. This is 1/2 of my whole personality!"Dogshit, dogshit, dogshit.
what the FUCK is a softboy?
>>726024643I have no idea, and there's no way to look it up. I guess we'll never know.
>>726024473Three wives
>>726024724The real thing or three was the swords and cat we impregnated along the way.
>protag is a little boy that makes older women moistyep, it's gaming time
>>726024724Rex is actually a great example. He was heavily regarded as an annoying little bitch in a dumb outfit that nobody liked in XB2 so they later turned him into a gigachad with a real personality, flaws and convictions and now you love him so much you rush to his defense online. If you can't handle him at his "I love you... and all you guys!" you don't deserve him at his "I fuck these hot nasty sluts every night and I don't care how you feel about monogamy you limp-dick faggots."
>>726024473The japanese gaming industry would rather cease to exist than have competent writing.
>>726024473I don't think they even necessarily have to be flawed with convictions and such. They just need to be a character you can enjoy.Since I've been playing some Sanic recently, Sonic for example isn't really a deep character or anything. He's a dude with a 'tude and he beats the bad guys. He still works in the plots he's thrown and is likeable, however simple or complex they are. Until the 2010's anyway.
