There isn't a game in the genre that embodies the feeling of "you don't control this machine, you merely guide it" to Redout's level. It's visecral, raw, ruthlessly unforgiving, it will beat you up, but once you reach that coveted flow state, you are sure to revel in your victory over it. Most arcade racers are content with just letting you fight for milliseconds with little punishment for failure, but in Redout you don't get these concessions, even the act of navigating the track is a challenge in itself already. This is what racing should be. Shame 2 is shit. Too streamlined and balanced, like Tilke's F1 tracks. Give me Spa, I want to scream as I run through Eau Rouge flat out.
>>726024631>"you don't control this machine, you merely guide it"yep, exactly what I want from a racing gameDriving a fucking station wagon
>>726025216You don't get it. You are at the reins of a vehicle capable of reaching kinetic energy equivalent of a small nuclear bomb. You are personally dealing with power many orders of magnitude beyond what humans, or indeed most of nature, is capable of. It shouldn't feel easy or responsive. It's a beast, the best you can do with it is tame it just enough that it doesn't bite your head off. And when you have a beast like that on a leash, you feel powerful yourself. Yes, it's just another power fantasy, except you actually deserve it.
>>726024631I just bought this game for 9 dollars and I'm about to play it, if it sucks I'm gonna be really ticked off man
ok, this game rocks
>>726025926I've only finished one race so far but I get it and I get what you mean now. This game reminds me of what it's like to learn how to skate, it's a consent in control, out of control feeling but it's exhilarating once you hit that "flow"
BallisticNG is better though
>>726028738Glad to be of help, anon.
I bought and played through the game but my 'tism got endlessly triggered over how it's more efficient to bounce off walls on certain tracks. Still really like the sense of speed in it though, feels well done
>>726029350It still kinda feels like a bootleg wipeout but I like the controls in this one and the music is interesting
>>726024631>>726024631>>726024631>Shame 2 is shitFUUUCK YOUUUU! Redout 1 was fucking garbage when i played it. I gave that shit 13 hours of my life and it was fucking awful. Fuck that "grind against walls to go faster around a corner bullshit" and mariocart faggot weapons that were even more annoying than in the actual mariocart serious. And some of the music was also fucking garbage. Yes. I'm MAD that there are retards like you that thing RO1 is better than 2. Redout 2 has way better tracks, music, and acutal fun/rewarding driving physics sound effects, and visuals. The only serious negative of 2 is the grindy and tedious career progression for unlocks, but other than that, it is fucking great and a vast improvement over everything the steaming shit that was 1. Please for the love god anons, PLEASE skip that piece of shit that is Redout 1 and go straight into 2 instead. Don't listen to the faggot OP opinion FUUUUCK.
>>726031080EssentiallyRedout is for pure immersion, realistic weighty controlsRedout 2 is the better racing game
>>726029892You have to bounce off the wall in the exact right way to get the right angle out of the corner, otherwise you get vaccuumed onto the wall and kill your momentum and health. And wall bounces aren't free, they cost health either way.>>726031080Redout 2 is baisically>putter around the track>reach designated double boost spot>sonic_forces.jpg>wub-waow wub-waow wub-waow>50 goto 10
>>726031080Also yes, R1 has some stinker tracks like the Alaska ones, but on average its bespoke soundtrack is better than 2's licensed tracks. More unique, more coherent. No track in R2 is even half as good as Sequoia or Party Rock themes.
