The only games I've bought at launch:
Fallout 4
No mans sky
Starfield
Cyberpunk 2077
Stalker 2
Tarkov

All had rough launches. Someday I'll learn.
>>
Borderlands 2. I don't think I've bought any AAA games since, especially not on release, besides maybe Zelda. There's probably something, but I can't think of it now.

In 2023 I bought Street Fighter 6 at full price on launch because "this is finally the year I'll get into fighting games, it's gonna be so kino" and I played it for 8 hours.
Later that year I bought Starfield at launch In my limited retard defence, I thought mods would eventually save it and we'd just have skyrim but in space. I didn't know it would be so bad that no one wanted anything to do with it at all

Recently only civ 7, pre-ordered it even. Idk how it could end up so damn bad, played it for over 2h too just hoping I'd get into it. Loads of hours (esp multiplayer) in 5 and 6. I doubt I'd even revisit 7 with updates, still mad.

I waited over a decade for an obviously rushed and unfinished game. The first half was solid in the human lands, actual engaging political intrigue, introduction to mechanics and quest chains, then it all falls apart the second you reach the beast lands into miserable shit with rushed storylines that wrap up terribly. The "postgame" was also fucking awful with barely any reason to engage with it

I kinda blame capcom for this since they've been fucking it up recently with dogshit oversight from the suits in charge for monster hunter wilds

Lots of things. Everyone has homing tracking moves and stances now, sometimes multiple, backdashing is nerfed, poking is nerfed, sidestepping is technically better but due to all the homing moves its actually worse, chip damage, heat dash that homogenizes every combo, heat burst which is a second super move while also still having rage drive..probably some more but that's off the top.
Also personally I hate that they sell a bunch of characters that were in the previous games as DLC, but fighting game fans already accepted this terrible awful practice a long time ago
>>
>>726032289

I bought FIFA 13 because my IRL friends at the time said it would be great if we did and it was 50% off. Paid £25 for about 30 minutes worth of playtime, and never played it again. I didn’t even like football but I was suckered into buying to play together. Fuck FIFA.

Other than that, I can’t really remember full games, but I spent an inappropriate amount of money on SMITE when that was more popular, buying Tier 5 skins for characters I didn’t play and plenty of gems to continue the cycle.

I can only take it in the context of how much money I had at the time. So how much the money was worth to me. Today I can buy multiple 100€ games and not be financially impacted so it really doesn't apply.

I was a broke ass Serbian student and I literally didn't eat meals to buy Sim City 2013.

I tried desperately to get into the Beta, they had it over some Nvidia crap. They had beta keys being handed away on streams and shit too. I zealously watched it all.

Then I got the game and it was so fucking terrible I don't think I managed to put 50 hours in. The first week the servers didn't work, later there was a billion bugs and the game simply had nothing going for it. The cities were TINY.

CSGO. Went f2p not long after. Retards bend over backwards to rail against anyone who doesn't like that scummy decision. Even spent $10 on something I don't remember. Oh! Also the entire Gunvolt franchise. They'll just keep re-releasing new Ultimate and Definitive editions, invalidating your current one. I already had every single game in my library, no exceptions. Monolith's Blood as well. Re-released TWICE. The only people who don't fuck you over like that are Id. Even remasters of Quake are free for those who own the original, no time-limited microscopic discount bullshit. There's an exception in Quake Live, where you were expected to get the Steam version within a timeframe, even if it was f2p. The vote-kick abuse in that game would leave you taking breaks often.

Diablo 3 was really disappointing for me in terms of story, lore, and aesthetics, but I thought it was quite fun. A very different game from D1 and 2, but it was still easy for me to appreciate.

Diablo 4 is my most regretted game purchase. Superficially the aesthetics are a return to older Diablo, and they were well-done. Overall, I thought the beta was promising, even though it felt really short compared to the D3 beta, so I decided to purchase the game despite my misgivings with Blizzard.
Fucking terrible game. There's some interesting grimdark bits, but the main story is dripping the worst of disney-fied, DEI-laden, braindead Blizzard writing, and you're forced so sit through and be a participant in the terrible narrative. The gameplay itself isn't engaging enough to make up for it and didn't seem like it would even get better. Additionally, your camera is annoyingly zoomed in the whole time so that your paid cosmetics are more visible. This game really did not get enough hate. People were too kind because a few sidelined writers and artists did actually manage to insert some good ideas in the game, but it really was not nearly enough to make the game enjoyable.

LAD: Infinite Wealth at full price. a mediocre game with increased AAA game pricing for a series that's always lived on shoestring budgets. straight up killed my interest in the yakuza series as well as making me cynical of of the prospect of purchasing modern games in general. xenoblade 3 and ai:ni are dishonorable mentions

i don't generally get buyers remorse from games even if i had some heavy criticisms of them, but those 3 games are special in how much they either bored or frustrated me with not enough positives to make up for them
