That's linear, neural networks and "AI" use the same but use non-linear learned formulas to predict. So basically baked down very high resolution data can be stored as a few formulas if the data allows for it. Example: You could store an image with a black to white gradient or calculate it with little information like x / (width - 1) then store that as color.
