>Humans can't see Pikmin and Marios adventures are all just his dreams
>>
I thought the events of Pikmin were after human extinction.
>>
>>726032368
That’s obviously the intended message but unfortunately the new short and the bloom app are pushing this shit
>>
>>726032368
>>726032507
Nintendo sold out to GloboHomo.
They don't want western and japanese audiences think about a world where their race could be extinct, hence they change
>>
>>726032279
so the captains are invisible too? and all the creatures you fight?
why do the captains never comment on the humans in their diaries?
this is beyond retarded
>>
>>726032368
If that was ever the intent, and I kind of doubt it was, it's been completely undone by 4. The house area is still clearly being lived in.
>>
>>726037092
I'm pretty sure the biggest evidence people pointed to, outside of the discard human items and vague hints in descriptions that could intentionally go either way, was the Geiger Counter item that would detect a bunch of radiation every so often.
>>
been waiting for a pikmin thread to complain about this. in the new hard difficulty mode in pikmin 4, the first night expedition of the third area is fucking impossible to 100% (kill every enemy) without using items. you can't output enough damage. they clearly didn't test it, or worse, just presume that if items make it doable then that's fine. this is terrible because it skews the balance so horribly. if you're going to use items, then the game is just done with no problems, no point even playing. they should have made sure the game is possible to 100% on the new hardest difficulty only using your pikmin and the items you find during gameplay (just a few bomb rocks which you need to break some walls). this is a real disappointment because after banging my head against that night expidition for a whole hour trying to 100% it, I've realized that my only options to proceed with this run are to either use items during the night expeditions (presumably all from here onward will need them), which just trivialize them, or to not 100% the night expeditions and just try to survive them. I'd be interested to hear other peoples thoughts on the new difficulty mode if you've actually played it.

>100%ing night missions
who does this
>>
"However, they can only be seen if your smartphone has an NFC chip installed"
>>
>>726038250
me and lots of others.
>100%ing areas
>who does this
>100%ing caves
>who does this
>100%ing the game
>who does this
what silly and meaningless things to ask
>>
>>726038390
I ask because the game doesn't even track it
most people don't consider something necessary for 100% if it's untracked and infinitely repeatable
>>
>>726038797
it does track it, you get a golden icon next to the level and it tells you that you killed X/X enemies. whether this shows up in the overall game progression elsewhere I don't know, but as it does show up on the night expidition interface, it shows the game (or at least the base game) is designed so that you can beat each enemy in a night expedition if you try, so I do want to try and do want to do it. in the base game this isn't hard to do at all, so I was looking forward to the new difficulty mode and some of the earlier night expiditions were enjoyably difficult now and took some planning and having to kill some creatures early before they enrage or whatever it's called, but now for this one I've reached it's just impossible, no strategy works.
>>
>Pikmins are actually fairy-like creatures that can’t be seen normally
What’s the big deal? Is this really that bad like some say?
>>
>>726039169
>you get a golden icon next to the level and it tells you that you killed X/X enemies
I must have missed that then, I completed a few of the night missions by killing every enemy but never noticed any difference in the menus
>>
>>726039960
you get a special reaction if you kill all the enemies before the night ends too, based on how much health the base had left. you can change the difficulty whenever you want so if you want to see what I mean, go to the first night expidition of the third area on your completed save file, change the difficulty to hardest, and see if you can 100% it without using items. or anyone reading this do it if you want to see for yourself. I would like to learn that I'm wrong and it's possible.
>>
>>726039760
It's just not fun realizing they truly are magical fairy-like creatures instead of just being some weird creatures that could potentially be viewed if a human looked down. Part of Pikmin's charm is that the pikmin themselves are living within a hellish ecosystem with things constantly trying to kill them. They're like little worker ants that carry stuff together and they fight together even if some of them die.

Part of the appeal is being able to go into your backyard, look down, and potentially see these little freaks just doing shit around your flowers. If they're magical fairy beings that can't even be seen in the first place it's not as convincing within the game's own world. The reason that's disappointing is that Pikmin takes place in an Earth-like environment (or just Earth) with yards, homes, and nature all around. These little guys are just doing their best to survive and that's what makes it cool.

I don't know why I even typed this post, I just think Pikmin's appeal with its aesthetics is cool and it's not as cool if the pikmin couldn't even be seen in the first place in a hypothetical scenario of a normal human existing in Pikmin's world. It would make it seem like they aren't a real part of the ecosystem simply because they can't even be seen in the first place.
>>
>>726042801
I still like Pikmin. I didn't play the mobile shit because it's not a real game, but I also enjoyed Hey Pikmin for what it is: a fucking spin off an not a main game you fucking pathetic cry babies.
>>
>>726042801
you're right about that all, but does the slapped together lore of some phone app designed to explain why you can see pikmin on your phone camera really matter? do you think pikmin 5 is going to take the phone game lore into account?
>>
A Sheargrub could climb into your urethra and you would never know
>>
>>726032368
That was always a fan wank theory that was very apparently not true even by Pikmin 2. Youtuber Harman Smith talks about that in this video.

don't ever post yourself on 4chan again

>It would make it seem like they aren't a real part of the ecosystem
This. The older games took a more believable approach to conveying the world, like the Piklopedia explaining how creature biology works and how they fit into their ecosystems. Pikmin being invisible to humans for some reason is clearly an attempt to make them more fantasy like.

>>726043139
I don't see why not. 4 took sparklium from Hey Pikmin, and it's literally magic treasure energy.
>>
>>726045373
>4 took sparklium from Hey Pikmin, and it's literally magic treasure energy.
that's true but what I mean is the pikmin being magic fairy creatures you can see through your phone but not your own eyes is just some fun flavor lore for why you see them through your phone but not with your eyes, it could just as well have not been said and wouldn't change your understanding that it's just a game. I doubt pikmin 5 is going to have all the captains realize they actually can't see the pikmin unless they are looking through some special visor on their helmets is what I mean. I think it's just some silly superficial bit of flavor to make looking at them through your phone more fun for children, it won't be taken into consideration again except for another phone game.

Why can't both be true?

https://www.famitsu.com/news/201307/21036956.html

The events of Pikmin 1, 2 and 3 happen on the Planet PNF404, where we don't see humans, however this interview is often used to "promote" humans being extinct, depiste Miyamoto never saying that implicitely or directly.

We just assumed the humans are gone because we never saw them directly. But even if that was the case for the Pikmin 1-3, Pikmin 4 restarted the timeline where it's evident now that humans are alive and well.
