>the highways just consist of copy-pasted segments
>there is no way to get on or off the raised highway in any way that would have made sense
>the monorail below the raised highway would have bumped into buildings, if ever in use
>the grav-trains operated on traditional railways (so they have the grav-train line up above and the normal railway below, that's like a cat-girl having normal Human ears)
>there are no separate loot tables for looting preserved pre-war places, you can find jet, pipe-guns in locked pre-war safes (It would have been fine, if Bethesda sold the players more on the idea that before the bombs fell, the entire country was already in pre-civil-war conditions and the first raider gangs formed before the Apocalypse, but they also do not care if a pre-war place would have been looted and replaced with things Survivors carry around)
>Synths are both completely Human, flesh and blood, indistinguishable from normal Humans, but also programmable robots, who can have their entire personality reset with a code word and drop synth components

Todd's team didn't give a fuck about making a product with soul. They made Fallout 4 with no love. It's just an obligation to keep his childhood friends employed with a 6-figure paycheck.
>>
Its just Fallout for Normafags.

that's all bethesda games

no shit?

>no shit?
Before a youtube made a video about this, you wouldn't have noticed that the highways don't make sense though.
>>
>>726036228
I don't need to, it's fucking fallout 4
>>
Too much effort was devoted to the settlement shit.
>>
>>726034815
For me, it's the robot race track where they just stop to shoot you
>>
>bitching about highway design now
Literal Autism.
>>
bethesda's design philosophy is to make RPG's better by turning them into procedural sandboxes. hence pipe guns in pre-war safes, build your own towns, radiant quests etc etc
>>
>>726039515
>procedural
the only game that used PG is Starfield

>Synths are both completely Human, flesh and blood, indistinguishable from normal Humans, but also programmable robots, who can have their entire personality reset with a code word and drop synth components
You double nigger, a synth is 99.99% biologically homo sapien and the only component of them that's not organic meat is a CPU sitting in their brainstem
So in the wasteland the only surefire way to tell if someone is a synth is to smash their fucking head open and root around in their brains until you hit plastic

And it turns out people who AREN'T synths don't like when you "test" them like that!
>>
>>726039628
An obvious test, daggerfall 2 will also have it
>>
>>726034815
The game is so half assed, even the story is mid. Fo3 just feels made with more love, even if technically is worse, yet somehow more enjoyable. Id rather replay it than slog thru fo4 again.

>>726039268
>adds a gigantic landmark cutting through the entire map
>gets angry, when players want to interact with it and get on it

>>726040157
I am talking about the meta perspective of the Synth issue. Bethesda intentionally made Synths ambiguous like that, so that both sides are right.
>>
>>726034815
> There is no possibility the safes were opened from the day the bombs dropped until the player opened them.

Care to explain the logic behind that assumption?
>>
>>726040157
>So now synths arent synths but just clones with a chip and unrelated to lower tech synths
Wow even worse cope.

Blade runner has robot skellingtons running around?
>>
>>726037149
They only do that if you let the Raider controlling the track see you.
>>
>>726041105
Exactly. It would be completely fine, if that's what Bethesda was going for, but they obviously weren't. The only signs of inhabitation are always pre-war. You never see obvious signs of a survivor making place their home and writing their own journals on the still active computer terminals. It's always journals from pre-war people and their passwords to open the safe still works.

The only kind of post-war decoration in Fallout 4 are the universal presence of manikins and skeletons in funny poses, which at this point has become a Fallout meme on the same level as the bubblehead figures. Instead of this phenomenon being restricted to a single house or location, survivors for 200 years had the same humor.

There's pipe guns all over prewar because the BADTFL had actually succeeded in partially disarming America
There's even prewar magazines talking about the epidemic of homemade guns that started before the bombs dropped

Funnily enough the one place this is pre-Bethesda is armor, even Fallout 1 had a lore note that the government had cracked down on civilians being able to own body armor
(which is a thing shitlibs do IRL right now, the governor of New York has this weird fixation that body armor kills people and she sponsored legislation banning ownership of it for anyone except soldiers and cops)
>>
Bethesda has shockingly dumb writing because it's Emil's philosophy to make it stupid for the stupid audience. Not that video games have ever had great writing or anything, but Emil truly doesn't care. Just make a bunch of cool plasma guns, stupid. Oh we forgot to even have plasma guns in Starfield? Uhhhhh WE'RE MAKING A NASAPUNK GAME IT WAS INTENTIONAL
>>
>>726041724
Many terminals have pre and post war entries. Did you play the game?
>>
>>726042140
>>726042218
There are so many set-pieces in Fallout, which are cool. Like the pre-civil-war conditions, which led to the creation of the first raider gangs, before the bombs even fell. How the first F.E.V. monsters also already existed. How Nate Higgers basically lived an idealized middle-class white-picket-fence lifestyle, because he is a valued soldier, who was allowed to use power armor and probably has more Enclave connections than he ever realizes. But nothing is done with that.

>>726042359
Come on. The focus is definitely on pre-war. There is very little effort to simulate any building as having had a survivor presence.
>>
>>726042302
Most video games don't really need much exposition.

Skyrim Dragons bad. Go kill em.
Saints Row Other gangs bad. Go kill em.
Halo Flood bad. Go kill em.
>>
>>726042663
> Oh come on
So you didn't play the game. No shame in that. Just be sure the Youtuber you got your opinion from has.
>>
>>726042809
I have over 1000 hours in fallout 4 thinks to mods and I can't remember single thing in the base game worth reading at all. Also I'd point out Bethesda is to blame for people shitting on them becoming a youtube genre.

Makes more logical sense than most things in Fallout 4.

I'll tell you a secret. Bethesda has always used procgen in every game, even Morrowind. Starfield was just their first game since Daggerfall that implemented it as an active game feature.

The only thing hand crafted in Bethesda maps is the assets and interiors.
>>
>>726043663
this guy is so retarded, why would he think that would go over well
>>
>>726034815
Meh i thought it was pretty fun if low brow. The dungeon level design was good.
>>
>>726034815
>waaah highway waah monorail
didn't even notice because i was busy actually playing the game
>>
>>726045730
Yeah I find stuff like that easy to ignore and overlook because I am used to it from years of playing Bethesda games where the world construction is more representative in scale. It would be nice for a 1:1-4 scale map of blown out DC, Vegas, Boston but that's just completely unrealistic.
>>
>>726034815
How much did Fallout 4 suffer just because Todd had the "brilliant" idea to put resources into a half-baked settlement-building system that probably only existed to piggyback off Minecraft's success.
>>
>>726046134
Not much, maybe the equipment crafting and modding wouldn't have been a mess.
>>
>>726046134
not much since it's probably the most fun thing in the game
>>
>>726046134
>the "brilliant" idea
for reference Fallout 4 sold 25 million copies, putting it alongside little known indie flops such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, Pokemon Sun & Moon, Elden Ring and GTA IV

fallout 4 was always dogshit.

>gets angry, when players want to interact with it and get on it
the only angry one here is the autist who obsesses over highways

>>726044969
>Bethesda has always used procgen in every game
they never did you techlet, the only generation they used was for foliage
>>
I was surprised how badly spelt the game was. There were spelling mistakes and typos in a large percentage of the terminals, notes, even the subtitles. There was even a store sign in game that read “Stationary” instead of “Stationery”.
