Worth doing a playthrough? I remember /v/ having a hate boner on this years ago
>>
>Ficsit doesn't waste... except for your time
>>
>>726037489
Not really a hate boner, but the factory building aspects are kind of weak compared to the tedium it requires to place things and connect them. 1.1 helps a bit, blueprints can connect belts automatically when you place them down in series. Still, it's much more of a base building game in the "fucking around with aesthetics" sense.
>>
>>726037489
its not a hate boner, its just that the kind of autists here who would truly enjoy it ALREADY have factorio.
>>
>>726038903
Satisfactory is much less autistic than Factorio
>>
>>726037489
I like it
it's a nice game to zone out with
>>
>>726037489
It was just the factorio fags having a meltdown because of their superiority complex
I got 100h of fun from it and would recommend it.
But enable all alt-recipes from the start
>>

>It was just the factorio fags having a meltdown because of their superiority complex
Be honest. You invaded factorio threads and shat them up because there wasn't enough interest in satisfactory to sustain your own threads.
>>
>>726037489
I tried it yesterday
>1-2h: hey that's pretty fun
>3h: yeah no too tedious
Don't do it
>>
>>726039391
yeah, thats what I said.

I heard this shit now has a story mode. Is that true?
>>
>>726039691
bro factorio-anons don't give a shit about anything but factorio.
some of the chillest threads on /v/
make up a better lie just because satisfactory didn't scratch their itch enough
>>
>>726037489
Its okay. The devs are worthless fuckheads so its better to pirate it.
>>
>>726037489
it's okay, but as mentioned pretty tedious compared to other factory games. Your blueprinting is fairly limited so there's a lot of setting things up manually. Your transport options besides building really long belts kind of suck.
>>
>>726039956
It has some backstory exposition dialogue added between ADA, the pioneer, and an alien presence.
It's BARELY enough to qualify as a plot.
>>
>>726037489
Bad factory game, would rather play pyanodon again

I am like fairly sure Satisfactory is nowadays overall more popular than Factorio
>>
>>726039847
>>726040000
Case in point
>>
>>726037489
It's still glitchy as fuck and none of the fundamental QoL problems that have been there since the early access period, have been solved in an effective way or indeed been solved AT ALL.

Case in point: developer/publisher Coffee Stain's latest big fat fuck-you to the audience is their CM in one of their video-blog updates stating "they've heard all the players complaints about fluids, and we have the fix for that" -- and then they fucking cut to a trailer that shows of fluid trucks are coming for Satisfactory 1.2

This developer lives off in la-la land, totally detached from reality.
Even their own bug tracker has only a ~25% incidence response rate to reported bugs.
Response rate. Not fixed rate. Just the common fucking decency to triage and acknowledge the issues as issues, is dangling at 25%.
>>
>>726040409
nigga what?
we get more threads about factorio than satisfactory by far
>inb4 "no I meant general popularity"
no you didn't. you opened up talking about it HERE on /v/
>>
>>726040409
it is, the console release made it way more popular. since it doesn't have the same autism aura as factorio it's doing well on console.
>>
>>726037489
The hate was because it was one of the first games to take the Epic Game Store exclusivity deal.
>>
>>726040409
They're actually roughly equal.

https://steamdb.info/app/526870/charts/

Though if you look at the progression over time, under the monthly breakdown you'll note that Factorio has remained steady oscillating around its midpoint with new players joining and old players leaving, whereas Satisfactory showed only one major resurgence with their 1.1 update's release in Jun 2025 (and its beta availability in May 2025) and has been trending downwards every month since, a pattern repeated before that as well, with the Satisfactory 1.0 update.

In other words:
Factorio actually has staying power and lasting popularity on its own merit.
Whereas Satisfactory needs external hype-building from its developers with new updates that contain a few trifle new game mechanics each, served out on a dripfeed to remain relevant.
>>
This type of game is just tedious busy work to me, and I play map painters.
>>
>>726041272
Satisfactory is also on consoles btw
>>
>>726040637
The joke is that lategame builds in Satisfactory involve far FAR more autism than the vanilla endgame up to the rocket launch of Factorio does. All those new Satisfactory players are right now still in "fuck about" territory. Wait for them to "find out" and bail on the game.

We saw similar things happening with Satisfactory 1.0's release on Steam. Something you can still track by looking at average achievement completion rate. Not even 25% of players have managed to reach Phase 2 of Project Assembly, aka 'the space elevator' in OVER A YEAR after the 1.0 release.
>>
I'm still working my way through space age my savefile is already over 150hs. After that I'll probably need a factory pause and then finally I can try satisfactory.
>>
>>726041542
And how well is it actually doing there, with the normie audience?
Keep in mind; after Satisfactory released with 1.0 on Steam and managed to grab a good deal of normie audience in playerbase, it didn't actually do so hot. Only something like a third of the playerbase showed in the achievement ratings that it made it passed Phase 2 of the space elevator. Which is just the opening act of the game. Nowadays that metric has sunk to a quarter.

Satisfactory has a lot of buyers regret, I'd wager.
>>
/v/ has a boner for hate, absolutely shit taste and sub 100 iq.
Only game that seems well received here right now is a fucking capeslop vn for fucks sake.
>>
>>726039691
you don't have to enable all recipes in factorio because it's already good game
>>
>>726042095
people enjoy factorio just fine, nobody hates satisfactory either.
we don't care much is all
>>
>>726041542
And Factorio is on the Switch. What is your point?
>>
>>726037489
Don't. The game is ass.
>>
>>726039691
looking back, i suspect it was a single barry-tier sperg who filled every satisfactory thread with his gurgling and seething
>>
>>726039691
this, every discussion was just whining about it being a worse factorio
factorio is obviously more complex and has several years of development stacked, but both games are great, and satisfactory is different enough to give you a different experience
>>
>>726045469
Satisfactory is actually more complex from a recipes point of view than vanilla Factorio is. They also both have roughly equal years of full development with a full team's worth of developers behind them. I'm not counting Factorio's early alpha years where it was just two guys in a garage hacking together prototypes to throw them away again.

The reason Factorio is perceived as more difficult and complex is because it has a better learning curve that forces you to automate earlier. Satisfactory, you can get away with box-crafting - i.e. crafting from one container into another - for the first 50% of the game, if you'd want to. It just means you're waiting a long-ass time inbetween.

This is not something Factorio wants to promote as a viable strategy. Factorio's devs added the biters and biter evolution specifically to make that type of play non-viable. You have to keep pace, or eventually you're overwhelmed. (They were still nice enough to allow you to turn off enemies or make them passive, though.) As a corrolary, you're forced into doing proper logistics and production lines earlier than Satisfactory forces you. Which gives player the impression that Factorio is much more complex.

This isn't actually the case though, Satisfactory eventually ramps up to surpass Factorio by a mile.
But at that point, it loses most of the fun. Because while it gets more complicated than Factorio, it really doesn't give you any of the proper tools and QoL features to deal with that complexity at the scale you really have to. And you can get stuck spending 20+ hours putting together a factory to output electronic circuits at the rate you need. (Not kidding by the way. That's actual representative time taken.)
>>
>>726037489
I've done plenty of runs and yet i always drop it after getting to steel
I don't know, at some point it just stops being fun and becomes tedious
>>
>>726038248
Fuck this is so true that it hurts. I hate the shitty blueprint box nonsense. Give me a 100×100 box you fuckers.
>>
>>726039391
Not really. You can beat factorio in a dozen hours pretty easily. Satisfactory takes that many hours to set up nuclear.
>>
>>726047195
>plenty of runs
>always drop it after getting to steel
You barely beat tutorial in your "runs"
>>
>oh boy I unlocked the car! It's called an Explorer so you must use it for exploring!
>drive a dozen yards
>flips over
Worthless piece of shit. Slide jumping and parachute is probably faster anywhere other than the desert.
