Dwarf Fortress "stories" are only funny or good in your vacuum of headcanon and second-guessing why something happened. Every time someone posts their epic "saga" it turns out to be an incoherent mess that nobody gets. Same with Caves of Qud, Elin and Kenshi btw

that's the point retard.

Dwarve fortress stories depend on a human making them coherent into a real story.

are you new here? Every couple of years or so, normies discover DF and hype it up as an infinite story generator that will provide them endless content for them to make money. They don't fucking care about editing or even thinking on how to tell the story - they just rush headfirst and then get disappointed when nobody reads their slop. Since 90% of DF stories are like that, then by default that is what a DF story is. Not going to wade through a sea of garbage to find something of dubious worth, sorry

>make money
So your entire opinion is literal scammers trying to make money?

>but, but, the story sucks
Most stories sucks anyway.

The important thing is the game generating random events that carry meaning because the player interprets them.

if a medium existed for two decades and the only people actively using it are scammers, then what does that say about the medium?
>interpretations
that is the crux of the problem, my boy
we don't need anymore of that stuff do OP is a fag for trying to inject more procedural trash into our sick and battered media landscape

but you're missing the point.

What if the output of the game is less something that is a literal interpreation, but is so abstract and symbolic, that works closer to astrology, I ching and tarot.

I think that way the story being made is closer to the appeal of tarot and I ching.

it's a shame the main audience of the game doesn't overlap with people who like tarot and I ching

I honestly dunno if my idea would appeal to those niches, but I want to make chess but it generates a real story.
