I'm partial to Rain, but I think a lot of his redesigns become too far divorced from the recolored ninja aesthetic.

MK9 had the best designs for all the ninjas except reptile (Armegeddon/Shaolin monks did the lizard ninja look the best) but MK9 is still one of his best. They give them enough of a unique identity without losing the fact that they're ninjas, always have been and always will be. It'll be a long time before we get a MK game with as much heart and celebration for the franchise as MK9 was.
