I think games tutorials should be relegated to the manual like in the past and not frontloaded in the game iteself
>>
Retards don't read those and will bitch in their millions at the devs until they change it
Forced tutorial intros is the meta for the rest of all of eternity

>tranime ESL
>>
how else will devs bloat the start of the game to get past the 2hrs auto-refund window
>>
>>726051535
Cool, go make a game then and do that.
Meanwhile devs will continue forced ingame tutorials because they have to cover their own asses against retards (vast majority of the audience)
>>
>>726051535
Why not optional tutorials through notifications and menus
>>
>>726051535
in-game is fine if they're 15 minutes max
>>
>>726051946
Retards don't read those either. I'm still mad Witcher 2 needed to add a tutorial arena even though the prologue already serves as that
>>
>>726051535
Games don't need tutorials.
>>
>>726051535
What would the "the great plateau is the only good part of botw" people think?
>>
>>726052003
>play tutorial
>play something else for a bit
>pick up game again after 2 weeks
>can't remember all the mechanics
>no manual to look them up
wat do

then the game should be advertised like"play it like in the old times! play it with family members who will read you hints as you play!"
>>
>>726052192
Play any wargame, they usually have 300+ page manuals
>>
>>726052164
have a "get back up to speed" option
>>
True
>>
>>726052367
Why do you need the tutorial at all then
>>
>>726052192
Blast from the past I had forgotten these existed

i'm with OP on one thing, i want game to be more immersive, especially one that's very story heavy, stylize the manual as journal, diary, guide , etc.

no idea if marvelous does good games, but they try to keep the tradition of paper booklets
>>
>>726052460
two different use cases
>>
I agree. It makes me never want to replay a game when you have to go through 5 hours of tardtorials again
>>
>>726052164
This happened to me with Ubisoft’s Steep. You can’t reset your game profess it’s tied to an online account so I had no idea where to go or what to do when I took a long break and got back on the game.

Tutorials should just be a separate level you select in the menu. There were a few games that did this and it was honestly really convenient.
>>
>>726051535
I'd beleive that more than half of gamers are functionally illiterate though.

i like them as an option, although a skip button should always be included
