I thought it was amazing, could have used more variety with the enemy designs though. gaymers can't into actual art though which is why this medium is mostly just microtransaction riddled live-service slop like COD/Hoyoverse bullshit. The golden age of gaming ended somewhere around 2005/2006, right as PS3 was preparing to come out. This is also why, however, that I only listed SH2 and SH3 as examples (even SH4 was quite a downgrade despite its really cool story and premise). That being said, I still stand by the fact that flowers and furries are not scary, at the very least had they kept the rust/blood aesthetic of the otherworld, I could've probably looked past everything else, but pink flowers are fucking retarded and scream try-hard theater-kid idea with the sole premise of trying to water down and sanitize Silent Hill for mass, global appeal. Blood and rust must be too dark and scary for the new quirk chungus redditor demographic who have saturated the Silent Hill fandom in recent years.

The hauntings in the room took me by surprise some of the time and Walter handing you the bear in the appts unsettled me a bit because my gut feeling was that it would lead me to a bad ending like in 2. Every other SH game has something ridiculous in it that makes it feel more like horror anime than anything else, like the Alessa boss fight in SH3 and how she's literally just a black version of Heather. Still enjoyable games, just not really "scary'. That being said, the horror atmosphere in f is actually better than it's ever been I'd say at least since SH2. Dialogue feels dreamlike and characters sound confused, everything feels hazy like a drug trip, which makes sense given the first ending. Even the SH2 remake failed in this regard. Characters sound way too sober.

At best, Silent Hill f just pays half baked homage to it, but doesn't blaze any new trails.
