Best Ratchet & Clank game coming through
Yup
It's a good game. I've heard many say 3 is the best but they can never says why
>>726064910Probably the multiplayer. Same reason Dark Souls 2 gets glazed super hard
>>726064910they're pretty much even for me, hell i mix them up a lot. for a while i thought the desert planet with the gem farm was in 3
>>726063264whoops, wrong image
>>726063264This is the peak imo, the game is very well balanced
>>726063264I like 1 and 3 more. 2 has too many "that parts"
>>726065385Less cutscenes and the downgrade in planet exploration (very little parkour or verticality) is pretty bad. Otherwise it probably could have been the best of the 4. Once you get to NG++ you are already pretty bored at the repetitiveness, I don't really get that feeling replaying the others because of how fun they are to run around and do shit in
>>726064910The gun selection is good and Courtney Gears is a fun villainIv never played the PS3 games but rift apart was good
>>726063264ACiT and GC are tied for best.
>Best Ratchet and Cl- ACKNewer is always better, better graphics, audio, includes DLSS and frame generation. Not on the ShitStation 2 and has achievements.Do not reply to me if you're gonna make I've heard it all and all uncs are retarded anyways.
>>7260649103 is really fun but I have to agree 2 is the best of the package, it doesnt get bogged down by the defense missions of 3
>>726066442nigger? nigger nigger nigger?
>>726065713that's fair. for me the exploration of 2 and 3 fell kind of flat compared to the first game, so I appreciated the mission based structure of 4 more because of that. if 2 didnt add strafing and ruin the weapon balance it would have been my favorite no contest, but unfortunately it was too experimental for it's own good.
>>726066668Malding unc lmaoThere's so many on this siteZoomer this zoomer that. "Niggers"You're like 30 years old at least talk like a functioning human. My 6 year old brother speak more coherent Anyways explain why the naw game ain't the best besides it it ain't on the ShitStation 2
>play 3 as a kid>the tunnel blobs scare the fuck out of me>get my hands on going commando thinking no more jumpscares>get to the yeti planet
>>726066442Nigger
>>726066831>zoomcuck asking someone to talk like a functioning humanfr fr no cap finna crash out
>>7260649103 fixes the absolutely fucked weapon progression from 2, and it's lows are nowhere near as bad as 2's lows.
>>726068312apart from like 2 guns the weapon progression in 2 was great. and the mod system which rewarded exploration was way better than just turning every gun into a mindless xp sink. also the new guns in 3 were garbage.
>>726066442no, here's your (You), fuck off
I am going to play Ranger Rumble when it releases. Also is the ps3 collection any good or should I be emulating the ps2 versions?
>>726068397Sure, if you ignore the damage scaling that pushes earlier obtained weapons into irrelevancy
>>726066856Yeti planet never redgisterd to me as the trash fire it was when I was a kid. I genuinely enjoyed both it and the desert planet because of how open they were and how you could lauch yourself off dunes and fly if you used the jet boots at the right time.
>>726065385Get a load of this guy QUANITA
>>7260685911 2 and 3 on the ps3 collection is okay. there's a few issues but nothing major, you can 100% the game without coming across anything gamebreaking.deadlocked/gladiator, on the other hand, is terrible. the game's fps tanks at several points in the game from the amount of shit on screen
>>726068591they're pretty glitchy but they're playable. emulate ps2 if you can
>that turret bosswhat the fuck were they thinking
>>726065385>enemy damage scales with your max health making health level-ups completely pointlesssuch a fundamental design flaw disqualifies it from being good let alone the best
>>726064910I prefer 2 because it still had a bit of platforming and some branchîg paths on plantes, 3 is all linear with ton of mission shit (That i personally enjoy but obvioudly not as good as 2). But i like the Phoenix and the weapons and also Qwark being here is better
>>726068917just clip through the gate and sheep his legs before you trigger the cutscene
>>726068917IM GONNA CRUSH YOU LIKE A LITTLE BUGZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
The only Ratchet game I ever liked was that space gladiator game. Everything else in this platformer franchise is peak sleep inducing.
>>726063264Agreed. Don't be to loud though, otherwise you'll summon the anti-strafing sperg
>>726069095Kek I always do this on repeat playtrough, fuck this boss. 2 is great but the boss arz definetely the weakest part, this and the final boss were big letdown
>>726068917>>726069120Serious answer, iirc the insomniac museum said the fight was supposed to be different in some way but they couldn't get it working and had to compromise
When did you realize upgrading your armore was a scam and didn't do shit?
>>726066831>at least talk like a functioning humanDo they not teach what irony means in schools anymore?
>>726069183Weak bait. At least one of the games depending on who you ask is probably in the top 3 games in the entire PS2 catalogue
>>726069316I skip the armor upgrades anyway because it makes the game harder and it's more fun to buy guns instead
>>726069095That boss was the "that level" for me that instantly shut down any thoughts I had of replaying R&C2. That blessed glitch was a godsend and I do it every time I replay the game.
>>726069316I realized that armor doesn't matter because everything is a one hit kill a few playthroughs in anyway, and not being able to see Ratchet anymore fucking sucks
>>726063264it's actually the worst of the trilogy, not a great platformer like ratchet 1 but not a great shooter like 3, the weapon selection is flawed due to the damage scaling and single level ups, all of the bosses are terrible, there's two filler collect crystal planets, the skills points are obnoxious (break every object in the level lol), it doesn't have dual stick aiming despite effectively transitioning into a shooter halfway through the I guarantee you everyone who prefers it to 3 played it first, which sounds obvious but the problem is they like it because it was the first one to implement a lot of the things improved on in 3. If you played 3, or even deadlocked, before 2, 2 comes off as a massive step down from 3's shooter mechanics (whereas 1 remains its own thing and probably the best in the series)
The sewer crystal maze is the worst part of UYA, if only because the King Ameboids will not spawn if you approach them from the 'wrong' side, forcing you to go the long way around.Luckily, it is completely optional.
>>726069519It's funny because that's how I feel about 3 with respect to Deadlocked
>>7260695193 has so many challenges and they all put me to sleep. At least 2's gladiator tournaments are unique and fun. Probably why 4 based their arenas off 2 instead of 3
Why did the ps3 games focus on the stupid "Ratchet is the last of the lombax's" plot when both Angela and the galactic president+his daughter were in the previous two games and ratchet didn't even shrug at them?
>>726069519>the skills points are obnoxious (break every object in the level lol)if only there was a wrench upgrade that broke everything around you
>>726069632fair
>>726069749This, he got filtered
>>7260695193's bullet sponge problem is much worse if you're decent at the gamewhen nefarious turns all the thyrannoids into robots all your guns will all tickle enemies unless you died numerous times repeatedly to gain redundant xp to level up weapons
I admit it, I rarely do NG+, I always start a new save because I like using all sort of weapons and the dopamine of upgrading them onto something different, also I never use the RYNO
>>726069839>filteredthis doesn't mean anything anymore I guess
>>726069908>when nefarious turns all the thyrannoids into robots all your guns will all tickle enemiesFucking this. At least GC's enemies don't have infinite poise
How is the HD trilogy on PS3?
>>726069953>also I never use the RYNOUnfortunately you pretty much have to eventually in all the games, just because you need the weapon with the best DPS. Iirc you basically get softlocked because you are just spamming the PDA shop to constantly get more ammo and are broke as fuck unless you just tried to sprint past everything, in which case you aren't really having fun with the game anymore so what's the point
>>726070140A hell of a lot better than Jak's ports, but it still has annoying glitches and you're better off playing the original
>>726070215not a single thing you said is true
>>7260632642 is my least favorite, unironically. It's bloated as hell for being a linear R&C game. Millions of upgrades to find. Forgettable plot, except Angela Cross. Weapons aren't cool and science fiction ish at all. There are 2 (two) deserts where you gotta collect stuff. Space ship sections are boring and tedious. 3 is much better. Neferious is very cool. You get to have a giant spaceship as a hub for the first time. levels and tyranids are cool. Weapons are the best in the series: black hole guns, acid minions, shields etc. Music is cool, lesser villains like courtney gears and klunk have personality. Qwark arcade stages were fun.
>>726070140buggy and downgraded but acceptable if it's all you've got
>>726070325It's literally all true wtf. Even in deadlocked I remember just spamming the harbinger nonstop because nothing else worked. It's the same strat for all the games in the super late post-game
>Insomniac mentions that Ratchet 2 was a learning experience saying that changing how weapons worked was now off limits>Ratchet 3's Ry3no turns into the Zodiac at max levelWhat did they mean by this?
>>726069394>b8I've replayed Deadlocked like 8 times over the years, meanwhile I straght up bounced off 1-3 after less than 2 hours. The platforming is braindead and the weapons simply aren't fun in the beginning. Not sure why that one game is the only one with good combat, but it is what it is.
>>726070215Are you playing on like NG++++ or some shit or are you actually missing your shots in a game with auto-lock on?
>>726070215>Iirc you basically get softlocked because you are just spamming the PDA shop to constantly get more ammo and are broke as fuck unless you just tried to sprint past everythingthis has only ever happened to me as an infant on veldin in the first gamehow the fuck do you run out of bolts for ammo?
>>726069519Also the levels are mostly bland/ugly looking. It has a consistently drab colour pallet favouring lots of metal greys and blues for some reason. It also has some of the dullest and poorly though out gadgets in the series. The Dynamo does literally nothing interesting and achieves the same thing as stepping on a button in the first game but now with added menu use. The Electrolyzer and the Infiltrator both do the same thing, but the Infiltrator is trial and error dog shit. Clank's Heli/Thruster packs were nerfed and are now basically the same thing. The Levitator is kind of cool idea but it was screaming out for a level or bossfight where you could use it extensively (one of the things R&C2016 did right).
>>726070445>Space ship sections are boring and tedious.god I mentally suppressed those, add it to the pile
>>726070545>NG++++Yeah that's basically what I am talking about. When you get instakilled by absolutely an y hit with max armor
>>726070558Anon, this is for NG++++ players, you have to read the whole comment chain for context
>>726064910>3 is the bestNo one says that
>>726064910Best vibe, and a more epic story, with Dr. Nerfarious.
>>726070483Insomniac doesn't seem to give much of a shit about internal consistency, you could of probably figured that out with the whole Angela/Sasha/Lombaxs in general situation.
>>726070779According to pretty much every ratchet poll on any forum it is the winner. Ratchet 3 is hands down the most liked by the public out of all 4. Not saying they are right, just that that's what most people think, and the thread seems to back that up too
>>726070779yes they do, but imo it has way way wayyy too many minigames. Fuck those unfun qwark video games
>>726070479then you are retarded. it's especially false in deadlocked because there's so few weapons and they all scale to 99
>>726063264I disagree, but it's home to the best character.
>>726068746although the starter blaster weapon gets scaled into uselessness in every game and insomniac does it intentionally because they know if they don't make it useless later a huge amount of player will never try another weapon.
I'm sad there's no final mission in deadlock where you get Clank back
>>726070647I never bothered going past NG+ because the Ryno was reasonably affordable with a x2 bolt multiplier and all the side shit like Crystals and Arenas getting refreshed.
>>726070740NG++++ doesn't exist. you have regular mode and NG+ which then repeats itself.Have you even finished a single R&C game?
>>726070779it has always both had the highest metascore and other aggregates as well as winning fandom polls and being the average joe favorite.
>>726065814The future series is good you should try it just avoid the games past a crack in time though
>>726070573Ratchet 3's gadgets were somehow worse.>HypershotJust the swingshot and dynamo merged into one.>Tyrrhaguiserhythm game, it's like a slightly better electrolyzer I guess>HackerWhat if tempest moved at a snail's pace and also you had to do 3-4 rounds a pop?>Warp padI bet you forgot this one even existed.I liked the refractor though. It was cool that you could reflect some of the noids' lasers back at them. I wish this was taken advantage of more. Obani Gemini is one of the only levels which isn't just a linear shooting gallery so it's one of the more memorable in the game.
>>726071109Nexus is fine
>>726071160No
>>726070995There's cut content which implies that was going to happen.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWOKN2uPqtU
>>726063264I like Commando but for me, you just can't beat that first game. Of course the later games have Courtney, and Nefarious, and way more Qwark, but that first game's just really a perfect little snapshot of the early 2000's. It reminds me of Invader Zim, Cyberchase, and Jimmy Neutron, always has.
>>726071109Yeah, A Crack in Time is fucking good.
>Get to Kerwan in 3>It looks like shitWhat the fuck happened
>>726071109they have fun gameplay but the vibe and writing are huge downgrades. all the humor got sucked out accept for the kind they think 5 year olds will laugh at and they keep trying to chase the pixar look and while also writing bootleg pixar stories.
>>726065385Didn't even feel like a real ratchet and clank game
Fine, you don't believe me? Then vote. Let's see what /v/ thinkshttps://strawpoll.com/2ayLQaaxen4
>>726064910Literally just watching the credits roll on 3 now. I think I liked it more than 2 for the weapon balance, no fuck ass ship battles or racing, overall more enjoyable characters (especially the villain) and story.
>let's see if you can fight better than you can singhow do you recover from this?
>>726071223Oh that's neat, didn'g know that, guess the story was completely different there then
>>726071480but what i think is the best and what's my favourite aren't the same
GC always felt like the prefect combo if you liked 1’s exploration and multitasks and 3’s TPS combat but it’s way less polished compared to UYA and DL because weapons upgrading takes an eternity and there’s only one per weapon making progress feel more tedious. Not to mention it’s padded as fuck with multiple gameplay styles like the ship, glider and hover bikes sections which all sucked ass, the bosses are garbage, there’s two filler planets for grinding etc.GC is still a top-notch game but good god, it insists upon wasting your time, it’s ironic how the 2nd game in Ratchet & Clank suffered more from “3rd game in platformer trilogy” syndrome like Crash, Spyro or Sly while it’s actual 3rd game UYA feels more in tune with the 2nd games of those aforementioned series.
The soundtrack for the PS2 games is fucking amazing. Legit chills hearing 'Mylon - Launch Site' on a 3 replay, dude didn't have to go so hard on the violins as if he was Yoko Shimomura.
>>726071917spyro 2 is more mini-game heavy than spyro 3 as well. it's jsut they both were in comparison to the first
What was the online actually like in this game?My parents were too cheap to get the ethernet adaptor so I never got to play it.
>>726071917your last point is quite astute and I think I know why, those 3rd games usually run out of room to improve and have to get gimmicky to keep things fresh, whereas ratchet found an entire new direction to expand into, only problem being 2 having to act as an awkward transitional title
>>726063264Most boring one more like
>>726072187idk about the online but I got to play it with siblings, was very funny but you could do busted shit like throw mines in the base room
>>726064910Shooting good, platforming bad.
>>726071136i played the game a few months ago and i literally had to google the warp pad >Obani Gemini is one of the only levels which isn't just a linear shooting gallery so it's one of the more memorable in the game.yeah that was a great level. amazing soundtrack too, wish there was even more of this kind of lonely, atmspheric, spacey music in the games:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3zP2GTY1_Y
>>726071758Kill her favorite backup dancer
>>726072187Unironically the most fun experience ever.
>>726064910The Final Boss in 3 is WAAAAY better than in 2
>>726072829Orxon and Gemlik Base are my favourite levels in the first game for that reason. Metropolis is great and all but I love those levels where you're alone in this hostile place
>>726072180What do you think about Gex 3? I always liked that he winds up fucking a pornstar, it's awesome.
>>726073258the whole climax is better. the same with the first game. one weakness of going commando is the whole final area feels underwhelming and rushed and the quark reveal feels like it was pulled out of their ass because it was. if ratchet 1 was all the best parts of not having a professional writer on board then 2 was all the worst.
>>726072187pretty fun. i liked raining fire from my ship until i got tooked out by annihilators or sniper rifles
>>726066442>Only has praise for graphicsYour opinion is worthless
I'm not sure how I had never noticed before but this fight with maximum ACT tuning is kinda fucked. Repeatedly spawns a bunch of turrets plus bots and you can't realistically keep the boss in view while cleaning all of that up so you have waves from her bomb attack hitting you in the ass. It's all made completely irrelevant by just blitzing her with damage so she doesn't even have a chance to do anything, but still. The fuck?
>>726065385I replayed this game earlier this year and it aged really badly. Way too many repetitive filler missions and the scaling's really bad. You could tell how much they rushed development
>>726076795Its really design for MP couch. My buddies and I played the shit out of the campaign constantly and loved the versus multiplayer. I remember chasing them down with rocket boot flail cancels and just obliterating them.
>>726072187Didn't the multiplayer have bots?
>>726063264>Ratchet and Clank: Not Wearing UnderwearReally Insomniac?
For me, it's Deadlocked. The best game in the series.
>>726066442Rift Apart is better than Tools but not as good as Crack in Time. PS2 games absolutely mog it.
>>726070961Recently playing with emulator upscaling I noticed the pixelated effect on his eyes which is kinda fascinating. I wonder if it was a design choice or just a coded render effect that the emulator is unable to upscale (that the eyes would need such coding is interesting in itself).I also noticed that the background image in the pause screen (whatever was on screen at the moment you paused) is low resolution, presumably snapshotted into a still image at the PS2 render resolution and thus also not upscaled.
>>726079942yes they had a sense of humor. ratchet and clank up your arse
I am once again reminding you that Crack in Time is praised far more than it deserves. Its weapons are bland garbage, its spherical worlds are lame, its space combat is mogged by 2's, its mechanics suck ("dude enemies have shields now but you have a thing to pull them off via button prompt wowee!") and its story sucks.
Apparently people love Ratchet and Clank 1, any particular reason?
Carbonox armor in 2 was pretty cool looking.>>726072187Online was fun for a while until people figured out the exploits, like the one where you could complelely circumvent the base defences on metropolis. It was super janky compared to todays standards. Insomniac had to patch game via buffer overflowing their own EULAhttps://kylehalladay.com/blog/2019/12/04/Recreating-A-Dirty-Gamedev-Hack.html
>>726063264>>7260649101 is the best by far. every planet is memorable.it has the best dialogue and story charm, the best mix of platforming, puzzles and combat.2 & 3 have lower quality art direction, far less good planets, 3 is basically just combat in hallways.and look at how dogshit metropolis looks in 3 compared to 1. total downgrade.
>>726080991Its the best game in the future series. When you've got Into the Nexass and garbage like RIP a Fart as part of the extended trilogy then standards are low.
>>726083535It has tighter design that makes the player think through the tactics of what in their toolbox solves the problem laid out in front of them. You can almost always see the enemy setup before engaging with it.
>>726080991I enjoyed the space combat even though all you had to do was hold the roll button and you couldn't be stopped
>>726068803I've always assumed the bitching is because they fuck speedrunners specifically, for me those two planets were how I bought the RYNO
>>726065385Based
>>726080492I dont know but assume its because the eyes are supposed to glow
so are the decomps done?
>>726087878Only thing I hate about yeti planet is how silent those fuckers areI never know one snuck up on me until something gets zapped or the bots start shooting at it and it's never just 1 of them
>>726088828We got decomps now?
>>726089391i heard someone was working on them but i guess i mixed them up with the jak ones and the fangame
>>726070493Probably because Deadlocked is easy as fuck and 4-6 hours long
>>726065385holy based
Strafing ruined the series. The first game's limited mobility led to combat encounters being more strategic and puzzle-like. You had to pick the right weapon for the job, or else you're going to eat shit. In the sequels, weapon selection means nothing thanks to strafing removing the need for careful positioning and every weapon can now be used in every encounter carelessly.A very first playthrough of the game will always have situations where the player feels like they hit a roadblock because they keep using the wrong weapons. Just watch any stream of someone playing the game for the first time and you'll see. That never happens with any other game in the series.
>>726090636strafing is a meme once you get the clank shield and crouch jump or use jetboots across the map
>>726080028>secret code to make boobers grow>not in remake and also shes a robot now i think
>>726063264>no boxersHe probably got testicular torsion from all that jumping around
>>726093576You can remember something from that bland ass game?
>>726066442Soulless trash just like every game this gen
>>726070965>although the starter blaster weapon gets scaled into uselessness in every gameThat's not true at all. The Blaster in Ratchet 1 remains useful the entire game since there's basically no weapon scaling of any kind. And the N90 Hurricane in UYA easily destroys everything even in NG+
>>726101024ToD eternally underrated
>>7260632642 is basically the worst of both worlds1 has way better platforming and 3 has way better combat
>>726090158Anon, they're all easy baby games. Difference is just that Ratchet 1-3 was peak boredom.
