I actually enjoyed the EMMI sections in Dread and thought they were a neat evolution of the SAX scenes in Fusion, but I could do without them bringing back stealth sections for a third time (fourth I guess if you count Zero Mission.)and please for the love of christ no ridley no kraid no fucking whatever I just want new guys to kill

Said this in another Metroid thread but one way i can see them taking the franchise forward after the whole storyline of the past 5 games is to go in a route that has little-to-nothing to do with Space Pirates or any bioweapon parasite, but instead make shit homely like a Metroid game that takes one or two cues from Megaman X6, Dark Souls and Capcom's Haunted House (the game that more or less grandfathered Resident evil) by implementing cool NPC characters that can help you out and you can command to take routes B or C while you take route A and so on, so shit could be as linear as Metroid Fusion, but the different routes and NPC picks add replayability. You could also introduce a second completion rate: Survival rating, you CAN save everyone, but it's gonna be hard.Plus, having various characters that can keep up with Samus means it could be a 2D Metroid with multiplayer.

Sorta like what you said, with Samus being her overpowered self from the end of Dread at the start of this new game, but she gets the hell beat out of her during this new game that, by the end, it's just her in her basic suit with basic weapons. She would have to use her wits and the environment to beat the final boss. I think it would be an interesting way to show this being her most difficult mission. Granted, the second half of this game would probably be frustrating and annoying, but that's why I'm not a Metroid game.
