Fallout 1 or Fallout 2, which do you think is the better classic Fallout game?
Fallout 1. Fallout 2 is the reason why Bethesda Fallout is gay and quirky
1 was so boring I didn't play 2. It might be the worst RPG combat ever conceived
>>726080334Fallout 1 is basically a tech demo. Extremely short, barebones, derivative. Fallout 2 is the peak of the series.
>>7260803341 is a more focused and consistent experience but Fallout 2 has more content
>>7260803341 for plot and atmosphere.2 for gameplay.
>>726080693The main quest for Fallout 2 was really boring for me
>>726080334Fallout 2 for the higher difficulty and a solid middle game. Also some cool encounters like the magic super mutant or the raider hideout also the mods for it, some of which are better than either vanilla game
>>726080693We all know New Vegas is still the peak of the series
>>726081052>New VegasMaybe the peak of the 3D Fallouts but it doesn't come anywhere close to offering the freedom 2 does. Name one other game that lets you play a 16 year old chem addicted champion boxer pornstar mafioso.
>>726080334Fallout 1, it’s much more focused and balances the tone well. Not to mention the villain is much better.
>>726080334Fallout 1 has a better main story/quest, Fallout 2 has better side quests and open world
>>726081052maybe if you're a dumb consolefag
>>726080334fallout 1 is the more concise title with a much faster start so I prefer that on replays but I think FO2 is better for a single run
>>726080334F1. concentrated and precise. No bloat and lacks the parody elements it started adopting since F2. Which behts stuff is parody of a parody
>>726081202The story for New Vegas is much better than 2, there is much more moral complexity to it. Hence why people are still talking and debating about which ending/faction is the best to this day, basically no such discussion exists for F2
>>726081415>Hence why people are still talking and debating about which ending/faction is the best to this dayShitty argument when you consider people do the exact same for Skyrim's civil war and the Mass Effect 3 red, green or blue ending. Caesar is also not anywhere close to morally complex. He's just flat out objectively evil.
>>726080334F1 has the only good big bad of any fallout ever
>>726081525>exact same for Skyrim's civil warwhat? Skyrim had a civil war thing going on?? when, where???
>>726081525I havent played those but I assume they are not discussed as much because they are not written as well as NV. Fallout 4 also has factions but no one discusses them because the writing in F4 is shit, while NV's factions are incredibly interesting and compelling
>>726081801its a life changing experience you could say
Fallout 2 is too long and felt tediousFallout 1 is nice and concise
>>726080334Fallout 1 had the better atmosphere, the better story, the better pacing and escalation, but Fallout 2 had the better side content.
>>726081927kek
it took me 20 hours to beat FO1 and 57 hours to beat FO2I was just praying for FO2 to end after like 40 hours, I didn't even do many side quests
>make an energy weapons character in 2>can't kill anything>drop the game and never try it again
>>726080334I think Fallout 2 is objectively the better game but I just personally prefer Fallout 1. I like the more serious tone of the game
>>726082062now add the restored content mod which like doubles its size
>>726080334Which game is harder? I'm thinking of choosing which game to start on based on that
>>7260823432 is very hard at the beginning and straight up unfair towards the end
>>726080334Fallout 1 is a well-constructed experience, but there's just not alot of meat to it. I quite like the aesthetic in Fallout 1 though, it was never ever recaptured at any point later in the series. Fallout 2 just has a shitload more, but there are alot more duds in it when compared to Fallout 1. I personally preferred my time playing 1 but I have way more hours in 2 and come back to it more often.
>>726082343Fallout 2's pacing is a complete mess, but you also have alot more options for your build. In both games you will get randomly annihilated by dudes with miniguns a few times.
>>726082343F2 is more difficult if you have no idea what you are doing or where anything is. F1 directs the player more into a natural, smooth progression Both aint exactly hard matched against other crpgs
>>726082343From my personal experience, they weren't that different in terms of difficulty
>>726080334F1 is the better game overall. I find F2 more fun to fuck around in though
>>726080334Fallout 1. It's pretty much a question of quality vs. quantity.>>726082343Both are easy, but 2 is a bit more difficult.
>>726080334Both were made by homosexuals
>>726082343>yep, that was good encounter design
>>726082710>It's pretty much a question of quality vs. quantity.This. 2 has far more stuff in it but it's a more mixed bag, while 1 has less stuff but is much more consistent overall
>>726080334Fallout 1 was a great little tragic story and the ending was amazing. I didn't emotionally feel that much from Fallout 2 in comparison other than the satisfaction from completing a long journey
Have you guys played Trudograd? I'm looking for more fallout-like games to play.
>>726082581Turbo Plasma Rifle, my beloved...
>>726083248i love ATOM RPG. it is basically a fallout 2 total conversion mod with some bells and whistles also play fallout sonora and fallout 1.5 resurrection age of decadence and space wreck are tangentially fallout-like too
>>726081547Genuinely what was his plan? He wanted to end wars and tribalism but why wouldn't he assume those things would still exist in super mutants
>>726083248Fallout Sonara is the closest experience you get to F1. It now has a non machine translated english version too as far as crpgs goes I guess Underrail is kind of similar. Its clearly influenced by fallouts gameplay but vastly more refined If you are simply looking for the "vibes" if found the Ashes series for GZdoom to scratch that itch. Although it leans heavily into 80s americana in style and influence There is also an upcoming mod converting the F1 Necropolis maps to the engine too with gameplay (fallout bakersfield). Partly run by some of the guys behind Sonora
>>726083248Didn’t like Atom RPG that much. For Fallout-likes, superficial at most, Wasteland 3 and Underrail were much more enjoyable and closer to Fallout 1 imo.
>>726083494because there would supposedly be no hierarchy and they are more intelligent than normies
I tried playing Fallout 1, and my save got corrupted because I had two followers or something, I applied a patch and started all over again, and it got corrupted again after trying to take the elevator in the Glow. Does the second one have the same issues?
>>726083494smart guy that got turned into mad genius by overdosing on FEV. Wanted utopia but with the infertility problem only way he could make his world order is keeping humans around for breeding to turn into muties. Making an effective caste system which contradicts his idea of paradise
Is there a single Fallout game where energy weapons mog firearms?
>>726083709second one is buggier, though i never had issues that weren't fixed by loading a save
>>726083596W3 is way more whacky (in a good way). Closer to F2
>>726080693>derivativeOf what?
>>726082343FO2 is a million times harderbut you wind up cheesing shit easierjust max AP to make it a bit easier
>>726083784Basically all of them except maybe Fallout 4
>>726083849of wasteland 1
>>726083784yes....FO1 and FO2...
>>726083918These Wasteland hipsters are getting delusional
>>726083795True
>>726083579>Ashesboggles my mind these games are completely free
>>726080334Fallout 1 assuredly. I’ve played through the game for over a 100 hours now and Fallout 2 just don’t hit the same notes for me for some reason. They’re both fun games but F2 feels a little more aimless compared to F1.
I just want to say if you liked FO1, MAYBE you'll like Arcanum.
>>726083709Sounds like really bad luck on your end. Mines runs fine str8 out the Steam store. No modding or anything
>>726084081Wasteland lacking proper sequels was a direct motivation for creating Fallout in the first place. So declared Tim Gay, blessed be his name
>>726080334I've only completed the first game. Never made it very far in the second game.
>>726084494>ArcanumIs it actually good?
>>726085035Are you still in the temple of trials
>>726085175the combat is shit and it's uber janky, but it has some amazing roleplaying and reactivity. very cool steampunk fantasy setting too
I'm trying to get into the first one but it controls like ass.I played Planescape torment with zero issues so I didn't expect this.
>>726085175Only other good game that Tim Cain made
>>726085303You get used to it after a bit
Fallout 2, fun but all over the place, it gives a too many cooks in the kitchen kind of feeling, I haven't finised it yet because I always lose interest, fallout 1 is good, polished but short, I felt like it needed more content but maybe it was just more fun
>>726085303how? it's just basic menus and hotkeys. only the inventory is ass>>726085324play you some temple of elemental evil
>>726085403Fully agree with this
I love this bleak, hopeless atmosphere that many CRPGs from the 90s have. Metallic Monks and City of Lost Angels are great tracks.
>>726080334Fallout 44 > 3 > NV > 2 > 1
>>726086194
>>726086194good morning saars
>>726086194P.S.If you take offense to 4 being the best Fallout gameplay-wise at the bare minimum, that's because you're a gay retard who got butthurt that 4 doesn't have quirky, zany textboxes where you can pretend to be an epic, heckin chungusR*dditor scum
>>726085417>need to swap between interact mode and walking mode all the time>need to select skills to use them>super easy to mix stuff that you can interact with>party member keeps getting me stuck in cornersIt just feels clunky
>>726086194Disagree with the ranking but that being said I enjoyed all those games, including Fallout 4
>>726086194Based.I-I mean, nooooo!! You don't understand, I need my heckin' speech-checkarinos so if I have enough skill points I might have the option to fuck my own ass in the Mojave desert!!! LE BIG IRON ON LE HIP
>>726081525thats a really SHIT argument anon.people don't give much of a fuck about skyrims civil war, and the general opinion of ME3 is that the ending was retarded.
>>726087089If you've been on /v/ for longer than just the summer you would've seen plenty of Skyrim civil war + ME3 threads. It's not even that uncommon to see those threads on /vrpg/. They're even more common than NV threads too. It seems like the only time anyone discusses New Vegas's story these days is when some pajeet starts a thread with an MS paint comic with gigachads and Fallout 3.
>>726087586Why are you so obsessed with Indians, Timmy?
>>726087792Why are Indians so obsessed with feces?
>>726087792>TimmyNo one says this other than jeets
>>726087858>>726087890Why are you still so obsessed with Indians, Timmy? In a thread about video games no less? Are you okay?
1 > NV > 2 > Tactics > 3 > 4 > 76
>>726088857What about Fallout BOS
>>726089006100% non canon compared to Tactics semi-canon status.
>>726089006Never played it and I just dot like shoot-em-ups like that.
>>726080334Fallout 1 is more memorable for me
>>726089006before 76
>>7260888572>1>NV (if you must play in 3D), nothing else exists
So based on how /v/ judges games and from reading all the fallout threads the entire franchise is shit and the only good one is the original first fallout and all ensuing games have bad writing and gameplay, only the first one is worth playing and it too is shit. Am I getting it right?
