If you're running around super fast and everything happens too quickly there's no time to build up suspense. And MMOs as well. Its always the MMOs where leveling up is too easy that die out first. The longest living MMOs are all MMOs that take 6-12 months to get your first character to max lvl. MMOs taking their time is how people get attached to them and the pacing dictates how rewarding accomplishments feel.
