>game has lore and fantasy world without humans>it doesn't explain why specific animals are sapient and others are not
>>726091262But there is no explanation as to why humans are sapient and other species aren't.
>>726091335Apes harnessed the power of fire
>>726091262>choose between holding a pistol or rocket launcher
>>726091983Depends on situation, duh. Also pistol ammo is more common than rockets
>>726092160they should not take up the same slot and the halo devs should be beheaded for setting that precedent
>>726091983>choose between pistol or rocket launcher>pistol is the better choicekinography
>Description on the official site doesn't match what happens in the game
>>726094363we get it man, you want to fuck Chaskayou've brought her up in multiple threads on multiple boardsyes she's best girl but goddamn
>>726095917Ok I overdid it.
I don't play games with day-counters at all.(like those farming games)
>>726091262>Survival crafting game has no way to use items from chests when crafting/building
>>726096243That's getting less common thankfully except as a deliberate early-game hurdle. Not having a "stack inventory items to nearby chests" is the real fucker for me these days.
>>726095917It's a legit complaint though. The team already has a token cripple who was born disabled. Adding another feels cheap.
>>726096485>Not having a "stack inventory items to nearby chests" is the real fucker for me these daysOh yeah that sucks. Also needing to spam click to pick up a bunch of items all the time instead of having a small aoe pickup, fortunately that isn't too common either.
>>726096987Davinci's disability isolated him for logistical reasons; he can't fly in a city built for those who can, and so he was abandoned. Chaska's isolation was social because it was viewed as an ill omen, and that ties into her deeper themes of inability to create her own identity and destiny.Neither is explored in enough depth due to the number of characters the game attempts to flesh out, but they do have stark differences beyond "birth defect". If you're going to complain about homogenization, every party member's issues come down to their nuclear family; a parent, a sibling, an adoption, a spouse, a child. There's no exploration of other kinds of relationships, and most of the complex ones are smoothed over by the death of someone who cannot be reconciled with. Also the ending pissed me off for different reasons but that's getting far too off-topic for this thread.
>>726097106I started Winter Burrow today and for some reason your home base has exactly one storage container, it holds ~200 stacks, and has no sorting or search function. Abiotic Factor's vacuum gun, item teleporter, and search terminal have utterly spoiled me.
>>726097332Thank you for your insights. I appreciate them.I do think there was something off about the ending too.
>>726097476AB was pretty great all around, you'd think there would be a universal handbook of survival mechanics for devs to follow by now
>>726097741fuck it, it's almost midnight so I feel less bad about a hijack and I do want to talk about The Lonesome Guild. The ending was horseshit because I really felt like the game was setting up Ghost ascending and being a god alongside The Only One, and thus solving the loneliness the same way as Ghost had helped everyone in the party. Having them be subsumed does nothing to answer why things changed, or what was done to prevent the same problem happening again. Noellis (his name is almost an anagram of Loneliness but not quite, can't tell if that's a red herring) gets no closure or thematic resolution, he just dies. So many of the story arcs end with 'and then the bad person realizes they've been bad in 30 seconds, and kills themselves with their own powers to fix something'. At least Davinci's mom went out like a badass, crashing the flying city for not being ADA compliant certainly wasn't on my bingo card. I liked the game quite a bit, even if I wish the overworld puzzles had a bit more complexity. Even something like having levers only Davinci can fix or pressure plates Mauhen has to fly to would do a lot to make the party feel like a team. As-is it's your best damage dealer, your best healer, and whoever has the best passives. Games like Battlechasers and Bug Fables did a lot to give each party member something to do and let environmental puzzles inform team composition for the fights in the area, but there's none of that here. Oh, and the game got buggy as shit in the final third of it when they very clearly ran out of time/money but whatever, that's not uncommon.
>>726098004I don't mind if some of these are missing in a game but I want it to be an overt decision with gameplay implications rather than just an absence of QoL. Crafting benches use material in nearby cratesAuto-stack deposited inventory into nearby cratesSorting for player inventory and crate inventorySearch and recall function for crate inventorySnap-to-grid to allow for easy alignmentLow-tier recipes can use high-tier versions of ingredients as replacementsItem stack splitting has 1/10/half presets in addition to a slider.Ability to see trader offerings when not standing next to themThat's just off the dome. You'd think someone making the damn game would know the points of friction.
>>726098392Meanwhile I wanted a better reason why would I want to switch to new characters during combat, like the new enemies would be susceptible only to granny's poison , something like that. But i only played on medium, maybe hard mode is where the extra characters shine. Right now I am literally combing every land to finally 100% the game. The devs inability to create more useful map is really annoying. The game was apparently inspired by the 2020s lockdowns according to their interview.
>>726098904I played on Hard and found it to mostly be a pleasant challenge, though certain tanky enemies could eat an entire ghost bomb and still be at half health. It also made the solo quests a little spicier than I think was intended but it was nice to have to sweat a bit. At one point or another I had every character on my team for an extended period, though Saranglyn was definitely the hardest to justify as poison is incredibly weak. At the end it was Chaska (especially with her tornado ability that upgraded to apply to the entire party), Mauhen for healing (augmented by the item from his story quest), and for the third I never found one I was happy with but decided on Mr. Fox because of his boost to crit rate for the party. They really failed to solve the common issue of every party member having roughly the same stat total and so mixed physical/magical attackers are just weaker than specialists unless have other drawbacks like being a glass cannon. At least they tried to balance the skill tree so that Davinci wasn't your strongest character the whole game purely by dint of being first. I didn't bother with 100% because after my fourth trip scouring every zone I still had a handful of treasure chests missing and a couple of flowers. I've soured on enough games by having the final few hours be pixel hunts and laborious navigation and so these days I tend to do all the sidequests and a decent amount of cleanup but I'm not surgical. Personally, I liked the gimmick of maps being items in the world that you had to navigate around rather than being able to check it constantly, though it did get me lost as all hell in Ninuit.
>>726099349Maybe I will try another playthrough game again after they patch a thing or two. (NPCs are blocking doors or altars, if you don't do their quest IMMEDIATELY you're out of luck). What does the crits do? Double damage?I think as their first "big" game they did okay. Previously Tiny Bull Studio did Blind and Omen Exitiq Plague, the hell are those? I only want to hug Chaska, not fug. Her absolutely unit of a brother wouldn't let me anyway.
>>726091262the title is too close to "rape"
>>726100005Half the word is different.
>>726099945Something like double damage on a crit, yeah. Might ignore resistances too.
>>726100462*Absolute Anyway, for guy from wolf tribe he has some lizard features. Scalemoyeds.Adding lamps to cat foreheads is an odd design choice too. Disadvantage for a hunting feline.
>>726100814I got the joke, damn.
No walking animation, always jogging legitimately ruins a game for me
>>726091262Probably the biggest pet peeve for me is:>"hardcore" / Soulslike / "serious" game>dev's big into the whole "dodge boss attacks or die" thing despite the game having stats to increase, various types of shields to pick from, armor weight classes to manage>everything does way too much damage regardless of build because you're exclusively supposed to be leaning on i-frames and nothing else>only viable way to play is uberlight glass cannon builds and that's itIt's like a big crapshoot when it comes to soulslikes for me. Even just some regular indie games balance tanking badly because the dev's terrified of the idea that a player might just tank their hand-crafted bosses.Other big pet peeves in games:>world/galaxy/whatever is loaded with tons of cool races, but you can only play as humans>RPG has various build options, but a boss/enemy can't be hit by melee because it's too fast or it's a bullet-hell boss and getting close means getting hit 9999999999 times>FNaF porn fangames using actual FNaF mechanics for the gameplay, meaning literally only FNaF players will ever play it>Terraria/Starbound clone can't figure out how to get melee to be viable, so they just turn swords into magic wands>long RPGs in early access with beta testers and NDAs and shit doesn't have a debug/cheat menu, meaning everything after like 10 hours into the game gets no beta testing and stays buggy as fuck until release>porn RPG with non-porn RPG amounts of grinding, meaning lewd scenes might literally be hours apart from each other>roguelites with such shit balancing that the game ends up being full of "grind gates" where no amount of skill will let you beat a boss until you get enough rebirth shit to make it easy>HM/RF/Stardew clone locks a ton of must-haves behind marriage with specific characters>VR RPGs with no shields because they really, REALLY want you to waggle BOTH arms>>726100005Reminds me of back when people jokingly misspelled shit all the time, like "raep".
>>726103507>Space game>That mysterious planet everyone talks about was Earth all along!
>>726104123>intergalactic event goes on>entire universe is in peril>Earth is the key, somehow
>>726091262Can I be a human and romance the animal people in this game?To explain further; I do not wish to play as an animal person, I want to put my digital penis inside the animal people.
