What is his end game?

Why does he insists on pushing VR when rest of the industry has given up? Even Zuck left it to chase the AI goose.

damn bro darth vader really let himself go

Ultra realistic sloppy simulator with nerve connectors for sensation and a built in smell-o-scope for holes.

I imagine VR actually has some really good commercial uses, but trying make games specifically for VR seems cumbersome.

Man just wants to date and breed Eli's daughter in peace.
Let him have this

maybe 3d training like surgery training, or advanced heavy machinery. Nothing much else.

People still think Skyrim VR is at least half-decent after years of mods.
So really all you need is modding tools and a decent game.

To get more people to switch to SteamOS. The real question is, is he doing that out of a love for Linux, or a hatred of Microsoft?

Modded Skyrim VR is probablythe best VR game/experience by far. Which is both a testament to modders like Shizof, and an indictment of the VR games industry.

Seems like it'd be a great choice for dealing with physical spaces like interior design, architecture, installations, etc. Having controllers in your hand isn't what I really imagine for commercial uses.

If it's got nerve connectors, why even bother with sensory peripherals? Why not stimulate the senses directly?
>>
>>726097320
they are using it, but it still hasn't reached mainstream.
I assume AR would be more convenient for them? (AR glasses and such)

Skyrim is more of a indictment of the gaming industry as a whole, like some kind of flashing neon sign exclaiming that every new game is somehow still worse than a nearly 1 1/2 decade old Bethesda game produced by a Bethesda that was years past what was ostensibly their prime and also on a time crunch while the industry was dying around them, and all that just because it has mods.

Theoretically? Fucking his half life waifus in the best way possible in his yacht
Realistically? Total videogame industry domination via Steam and its peripherals. The opposition is weak, and the time has come for Gaben to claim that throne.
>>726097145
I think its mostly hatred for Microsoft. Gaben likes linux but hates Microsoft even more

He's a benevolent dictator. Sure he makes bank but he also wants the best for his people.

He has infinite money to invest in future tech so he's spending a fraction of it for his future gooncave

the rest of the industry has given up because it's not a get rich quick scheme and not a scheme where you can destroy the competition and end up with a monopoly, it's a currently niche market that you have to slowly nurture into health. gabe can pursue it because valve is not on the stock market and can afford to do things that don't make the line go up immediately.
