Holy shit. I just started playing this one after playing MM6 and it's so much better with less bullshit than MM6 it's unreal. MM6 has so much tedious cheap bullshit (especially in the late game dungeons) but MM7 has a much better difficulty that feels more strategic and doesn't feel like it has a cheap lazy artificial difficulty that involves throwing 100s and 100s of ranged status effect abusing HP sponges. I can't believe the people who told me that MM6 was better. They must be smoking crack. This game pretty much improves upon MM6 in almost every way except in the art department. MM6 was great but it also was such a slog to get through and it was incredibly rage inducing. And yet some retard on here told me that MM6 was a casual game lmao. So far I'm loving this one far more
>>

Well good for you anon. Glad you like it
>>
>>726099293
My only major gripe is that enemies no longer prefer party members and instead always target certain party members. I know in MM6 enemies would usually target one type of party members like clerics or knights but there was always a chance they would hit anyone just that the dice roll leaned more in favor of hitting their prefer target. Now it seems that certain enemies types will always hit their prefer party class type. Goblins always hit my cleric and never anyone else. I fucking hate this shit and think it was much better done in MM6. Like why wouldn't a goblin hit a knight or paladin first?
>>
>>726099803
Update. I just looked it up and saw that goblins hate dwarfs and they will always hit them first. I still think it's stupid that there is never a chance they never hit anyone else as long as the dwarf in alive in your party
>>
>>726099293
I fucking love MM6 but the sheer number of "fans" who use the dragon shrine and the developer office tells me bad things about it's player base.
>>
>>726100253
What's the dragon shrine and dev office?
>>
>>726100253
The shrine of the gods isn't that OP. It helps in the early game but the game is still tedious and slow as fuck with tons of kiting. You even get a spell in the mid and late game that gives around 50 plus depending on your spell skill) to all your attrbutes. And attributes don't have that much affect as you would think. Getting all your attiributes up to around 100 to 150 only makes the game slightly easier but it will still be a pain in the ass during those shitter late game dungeons.
>>
>>726100948
In the starting town you can find a hidden levitation scroll, and use it to access this endgame place that gives all party members +20 to every stat. Then from there you can enter a hidden level that's the offices of the devs recreated in game. I don't remember what's in there. So yeah, you start the game with +20 in each stat (this is huge). It's like saying you're a Wizardry fan but using console commands to spawn your party members at level 5.
>>
>>726101345
Never knew that but then again I'm fairly new to this franchise.
>>
>>726101345
>>726100253
They do that because of sseth's video. I fucking hate youtube.
>>
>>726099879
>no all dwarf party
you goofed
>>
>>726101283
I don't mind people using it. I mind the sheer number of people who have never NOT used it. It's just always depressed me how often you see people asking for beginners advice, only to receive dozens of comments telling them to go to the shrine. People talk about how it's the best game ever, and then tell people to basically skip the beginning. Either position is tenable, but not both at the same time.
>>
>>726099293
MM6 has more sovl
>>
>>726101441
Count yourself lucky. Going into those early dungeons blind is a thrill.
>>
I found late game in MM7 to be far more annoying than anything in MM6 including the castle with the eye friends. MM6 is also much easier to break (even disregarding the dev dungeon).
>>
>>726099293
wrong
>>
>>726099293
Yeah, late game dungeons in 6 are rough. Darkmoor Castle is genuinely evil.
But I like story in 6 more, especially the sci-fi reveal. It just kind of "happens" in 7.
>>
>>726104765
the reveal in mm7 happens in intro though
>>
do promotions in mm6 do anything aside from hp/sp boost? i don't see any mastery restructions
>>
>>726099293
My favourite game of all time, enjoy OP. I really do think its a major improvement over many of MM6s weak points. There´s going to be some tougher points later on but as long as you have a cleric and sorceror arround you shouldn´t have any issues clearing out dungeons.

>>726105259
MM7 was my first game in the series (barring some fucking around with 4&5 on my uncles computer) and it was still quite the twist for me, as I never really made the connection between the intro dozens of hours back and then suddenly diving suits and a spaceship. First time I considered that you could combine scifi and fantasy.
>>
Archibald did nothing wrong
>>
>>726104765
Darkmoor is the shittiest dungeon ever put in a RPG
>>
>>726101516
Every time someone posts a thread about MM6 or 7, it inevitably turns into "hey guys remember sseth lol" and then half the people parrot his memes while ignoring how the game actually plays. It’s like the dude accidentally created a cult of zoomers who only know MM from watching a 15-minute video in 2019. No wonder everyone is hellbent on running to the shrine five minutes into the game-they're just following a script instead of playing a damn RPG.
>>
>>726104765
The SCI FI reveal is legendary but they completely undercut it by throwing a shitty fetch quest at you without exploring what's going on further.

>Finally finish the conucil quests
>gain permission to visit the oracle
>expecting to meet some old shamam woman
>see that you're inside a giant techno facility with a control panel and electrical lights
>the amazing music kicks in which helps add to the mood
>realize that the oracle is actually an AI machine
>Expecting to get some more to chew on or some info on what the fuck is going
>oh sorry but please do this garbage fetch quest which in involves going through the worst dungeons in the entire game

It's the worst blue balling moment but I still love it. It's amazing when you go back to the surface and realize that the life the generic peasants walking about the town around you are living an absolute lie and are utterly clueless about the reality of their world. It's great but I wish it didn't involve garbage shit like Darkmoor. At least the crystals look cool and alien
>>
>>726105528
They're a requirement for mastery of certain skills
>>
>>726110037
While do agree that sseth fans are obnoxious zoomers I can't say that I've seen any of these threads spammed iwth his meme besides the few posts referring to him. I do find it annoying that people now associate this game with him and that it's his game now just because he made a shitty video on it like 10 years ago and then did another low effort video on it again

>And yet some retard on here told me that MM6 was a casual game lmao
that was me :)
and I meant casual in the sense of, stats don't realy matter that much and all builds a viable, its not a "easy" game by any means but you should always have the resources to deal with anything in your path exept if you play with 4 knights then good suffering but even then its possible because of hirelings
>I can't believe the people who told me that MM6 was better. They must be smoking crack.
I prefer it from a visual and story standpoint, gameplay wise the sequels are way superior in all regards
>>
>>726099293
Really? I mean sure, there are a few improvements, and it's more handholdy and linear, but it's overall the exact same game

There's status effects in MM6? If you're fighting HP sponges then you're simply not the right level for that area

Anyway, enjoy 7, it's just as great! 8 too
>>
>>726110037
Not sseths fault at least, the guy shows a genuine love for both games and can't help himself from constantly coming back and playing them.

MM7 was already out for a few years after I bought it with money from my first summer job, and I really had no one to share it with. I thought it was a fantastic game but obviously it looked like deep fried ass even for the time, let alone years after release. People didn't even want to borrow the game from me since there was newer and better stuff to play, so it was a nice surprise to see it pop up on youtube for me nearly 2 decades later and getting a bit of a ressurgence.

If zoomies want to ruin the early game by doing the dragonsands crap then let them, at least they're giving 6&7 a shot. Maybe down the line some of the more autistic brocolli haired fucks will start making games similar to them.

fucking suffer lmao
like I said in the previous thread, the beholders here are bugged and wheren't supposed to be able to turn your party insane behind walls, you just have to deal with it, there is no way arround it
if you have a strong melee party you can actualy take advantage of insanity because it buffs your strenght so you can just whack all the liches and mages in melee and then cast leroys bacon to heal in town and go back
>>
>>726100948
The NWC dungeon is in all MMs. In MM8 it's on top on a giant sword, the logo of New World Computing, kino
>>
>>726112091
Spam the jump spell and avoid all the enemies until you reach the crystal and then get the fuck out of there.

Has anyone played the big total conversion mod for Might and Magic 7 call Amber's Island?

https://youtu.be/Q08WCZ6hCQY?si=FX6glKzqdL9dfC-s

Looks really good

Bump
>>

Happy to have enjoyed it anon. It was my first real PC game, so I am nostalgic about it. Also love these 2D sprite style.
>>
I love 6 through 8's artstyle. I gues 3 through 5 aren't terrible either
>>
>>726101517
But diversity is our greatest strength and I want 1 of each race to co and habit in peave
>>
>>726099293
I never got off newb island in this game I got raped by 5 million dragonflies and then said I'd come back to it later, but never did.
I really liked Clouds of Xeen, though.
>>
>>726119915
bro your completely legitimate free fireball wand?
>>
>>726119915
>>726122157
I always just spent hours to slowly kite a few and then kill them. Or ran through them to the chest they were guarding, and never went back after respawning.
>>
>>726119915
Honestly they were easy compared to all the bullshit I was used to in MM6 (I played MM7 right after finishing MM6) that it trained me to be to handle shit like that moment really well and only needed a 3rd reload.
>>
Thinking of getting into another WRPG since there is nothing like M&M on the market today, and JRPGs bore me to death before they get good (never a prob with WRPG/CRPGS). I still want a decent story and a good QoL experience. Does Might and Magic 7 need any tuning or recommended mods for a vanilla/vanilla+ experience? Or should I go to 8? I know that 6, 7, and 8 were combined together but I think when I booted it up a bunch of crazy shit was happening at the first town (big invasion right outside).

I've played Kotor 2, Vampire, Deus Ex, Will give System Shock 2 another go at some point (got pissed with the respawning enemies).
>>
>>726122157
NTA but I didn't trust that shady looking mother fucker and told him to fuck off
>>
>>726101516
This secret was already known 25 years ago
>>
>>726123171
Accepting is the dumbass option.
The dmart one is you kite dragonflies to kill him and then loot the wand from his corpse.
Honestly, you don't even need the wand.
There is the pillar of the goods and haste, that buffs you so much, it trivialises most enemies on the island.
>>
>>726116084
it's good, easily the best town and dungeons in the series, very short though (5-6h max, nothing beyond expert trainers)

there's a Vori mod in development that adds two new overworlds and remaps existing land, looks better than the total conversions we have now ,no clashing assets etc.
