One of the reasons campaigning was so anemic this year, aside from the rig, was that nearly all thread attention in Round 1 was wasted on Bazzposting, Bazz memes, and Etna being forced to respond to said Bazzposting. That diversion of attention smothered campaigning in Round 1, and resulted in few replies to OC. If it weren't for that, maybe some campaigns would've survived the rig reveal in Round 2. But the one two punch of what happened in both Round 1 and Round 2 more or less killed every campaign aside from Etna's and the few held up by single drawfags (like the May fatfag or Hexfag for Gardevoir). That's also why it only seemed like Tronfags (and Fiofags and Ammyfags) only woke up later after reaching Elite 8. Because campaigning was dead for basically all candidates beforehand and only upon reaching elite 8 did anons get revitalized by the possibility that their girls might actually make it.So I seriously hope Bazz doesn't make it out of qualifiers next year.

A lot of the sentiments being described in this thread is how I felt when my main was taken out by Shadow last year, so idk if it's just bias or I'm just not attached enough to Etna.

Etna's campaign had a good focus on high effort art that came after a win, and maybe that's a part of why she ended up losing but she did have a fair amount of stuff even despite that. So did Tron, but somehow it didn't feel all that climactic, like all the posters from before died off and didn't bother backing either character because they had nothing to say.
