>>726117209They wanted to make it so the game world varied based on your trainer ID, initially. Every new game would have different wild Pokemon, a few altered locations, and so on. This was going to be the original way to incentivize trading. Nobody else was going to have the exact same set of wild Pokemon you did in the order you did. The version split is a remnant of that idea.Gens 1 and 2 have an excuse, then. Gens 3 and 4 have the excuse that the remakes were going to be split-version no matter what, so them matching that is just for consistency. Gen 5 has something of an excuse, in that it was also a DS game like Gen 4, and the different versions had some more dramatic differences for once. By Gen 6, there really isn't any reason for the trend to have continued other than tradition and greed.
