Tidus and Jecht are from Dream Zanarkand. Meaning they are just the dreams of imprisoned Zanarkandian souls. Not past Zanarkand, but the fey, illusory city that is the product of Fayth dreaming. They were pulled out of the dream and became real agents in Spira, interacting with humans, etc. Auron, in contrast, is essentially a wraith who wants to see the cycle to its end.
