>Microsoft is forcing an AI assistant that scans your hard drive onto your Windows 11 system, openly violating your personal privacy.
What games actually require Windows 11 to play?
I'm downgrading back to Windows 10.
I don't really need the Auto HDR feature anyway.

AI is the future!
>In an interview with Bloomberg ahead of this week's Build developer conference, Nadella [CEO of Microsoft] says he feeds transcripts of his favorite podcasts into Copilot and then asks the AI questions about it while he's driving to work. He didn't divulge his favorite shows, but said he uses the Copilot app on his iPhone to build the summaries, and then connects the device directly to his car to interact with the AI assistant.

I'm getting very frequent black screen crashes that can only be resolved by restarting the PC, event log says Kernel-Power 41, it started recently like a month or so ago, I'm blaming the latest Windows 11 updates that messes with the GPU power, making some games run like half as efficient as before like asscreed shadows.
Anyone else dealing with these black screens?

Very unlikely to be helpful as I require my browser to have a shit ton of extensions. I dropped Firefox for Waterfox the day that all extensions in Firefox stopped working because Mozilla forgot to keep some kind of security certificate up to date after adding in a mechanic, which I begrudgingly tolerated due to a lack of known alternatives, which allowed them to turn off all extensions under certain conditions. I will never look at using Firefox again, I will never look at using Chrome, not that either of those were being kept up to date to begin with, even Waterfox had stopped getting updates for a while on Windows 7. So if you did know a web browser that would work at least on that one website and wouldn't get immediately disqualified, that might have been helpful before I made the jump, but there's ultimately no need as I now have everything working on just Linux and have been wanting to make this jump for years.

>>726309712
There are some things that you need to legally opt into for it to be justified, and a lot of it is due to being able to use your data as opposed to just viewing it.
ex: they do not need you to explicitly agree to take screenshots of your displays every minute and then send it to their servers for analytics as they are using it only for insights on how you are using the OS, of which is something that by running Windows you agree to implicitly.
They do however need your approval to take your files and run things on them to create new things using ML and AI, since that is a new feature not covered in the ToS and it is effectively creating something new

The point is to normalize it. If they force it through there could be vocal backlash, like this thread. Dissenting voices will be squashed by an "oh but it's optional" argument. Then a few years down the line it will no longer be optional and by then people would be used to it, many probably enabling it already. So then the dissenting voices get drowned in a sea of apathy.
That's how normalization works, you can see it everywhere if you know what to look for.

If you have a decent amount of money tied up into the account and Valve starts suiciding themselves to appease the public traders. I'd say there is a decent chance of an exodus still kicking off if money starts getting stolen left and right. If you were told to instill a monthly toll on the current userbase for playing their games in multiplayer they wouldn't be incentivized to stick around for that. Going one step further to charge on a per hour basis because you have reached the peak user saturation won't help your metrics either. Both of these avenues can still happen when your only real objective is keeping that green line from hitting a plateau.

Money tied up to your steam account? How? With your steam Valet? With the CS market place skin? If that money gets stolen then that's theft so I don't even know what argument you're making
>Both of these avenues can still happen when your only real objective is keeping that green line from hitting a plateau.

Is this some kind of new jeet projection marketing I'm not aware of? Or you just a retard? Windows, starting with XP has been dumbing down the GUI by making more useful features less convenient to access without relying on the run command and it has also been reducing the amount of software and features that are optional for the user to install. Latest release of Windows, Windows 11, outright requires you to have a Microsoft account.
I really don't give a fuck about your computer illiterate "but it just werks for me and I can post on facebook fine" tier excuses. I happen to think as a poser user that Windows is not enjoyable to use now. Yeah, sure they have massively improved the CLI in the form of powershell on Windows 11, however powershell is slow as fuck and it alone is not enough to offset every other thing I don't like about Windows 11.

Maybe the reason you don't bring your reading and thinking skills is because you're a computer illiterate retard who markets here for free? Don't need to read and think to post corporate marketing lines. Can just copy paste those.

I'm talking money in the conventional sense via game purchases. Sure you can sail the seven seas to get them back but you would still be just as pissed if the loicences themselves start getting revoked in real time. The money grubbing avenues is the business ideas floated by T2 wanting to charge their users to maximize the wealth gained. As if other companies aren't looking for similar ways when you consider the fuckwit behind Unity tanking itself last year wanted to do. Charging CoD players on a per reload basis in the middle of a match like that isn't one of the most merchant brain tactics one could employ at scale backed up by pure spite.

Because TF2 is a money sink, it costs money and they get nothing for it in return. It's very nice for Valve to keep it running but they are well within their right to kill the game because it's a black hole of money.

At that point having all your privacy thrown out the window in favor of 100% publicity will become the new normal. Having private data revealed will give governments justification to declare privacy dangerous and anti-democratic, thus they will enact legislation to criminalize any system that permits privacy. Every household will be equipped with cameras in every room (including the bathrooms) that will be livestreamed on youtube for anyone to view to ensure you're not doing anything illegal or illegal-adjacent. You will be required to scan your journals and upload them to Microsoft cloud to detect wrongthink. Every file on your computer will be shared with your name attached to it so everyone knows what you're into. And normies will eat it up because they don't like weirdos with weird unapproved thoughts.

Windows is genuinely fucking awful to use and normies only tolerate it because it's what their computer came with and most of them have no idea what an OS is or that you can install a different one. If it's the future then users would flock to it all by themselves. Meanwhile MS has to aggreasively force copilot on both its users and its employees.
Yes, MS workers are now required to use copilot a certain amount of time. It's so critical to the workflow that people need to be coerced into it.
The whole thing is unbelievably flimsy. AI has some use, but the attempts to shove it everywhere are as useless as they are tiresome.

For your normal internet experience it means interacting with a shitton more bots who are recycling the same things over and over. In addition, more advanced algorithms designed to keep you where they want you which means curating search results and feeding you bait.
For most apps it means shit ass features that you can't turn off being shoehorned in making it worse.

The biggest consequence of this is that it is devastating critical thinking. Even outside of kids using it to cheat on learning how to fucking read, adults are using it to sum up social media posts of like 150 words max.

God, "AI" fucking sucks so badly

I was asking about Star Trek Voyager and actor Tim Russ and if his status as a Trek fan gave him more access to producers and writers than most actors, whereas they had a policy of strict separation previously. I brought up Meld and how Russ suggested Suder be Betazed because Tuvok would've had plenty of experience mind-melding with humans before and it said something like
>Yes, you're absolutely correct! Writer Michael Piller was quoted as saying he spent "hours on the phone" with Russ talking about the specifics of the episode.
So, just on a hunch, I click the source and read the information it's supposedly condensing for me and it says the part about Suder not being human, but the specific mention of "being on the phone for hours" with someone about the episode was Piller consulting a psychiatrist about the psychological aspects of the episode.

So this fucking retarded AI can't even read two fucking clearly written paragraphs and summarize the information properly.
Truly world changing technology (for fucking retards)

The fact that people are turning over medical science and powerful industries to a shitty search engine is fucking TERRIFYING to me.

It's crazy how tech companies took something that is pretty dumb and straightforward and managed to package and sell it as "intelligence" that will supposedly steal all the jobs and replace everyone. The real tragedy is that the current approach of trying to bruteforce LLMs into doing something the technology is not capable of is setting the field back at least 20 years.

I still think it's incredible to be able to generate a short video of whatever retarded shit you can think of on a regular ass consumer PC but the hype, delusion and misinformation surrounding the technology is bonkers and makes me question my own sanity, maybe all these AI tech gurus are right and I am a retarded luddite who doesn't understand shit, after all how can the entirety of the tech industry with their trilllions of dollars and army of 200 IQ engineers and consultants be wrong?

There are absolutely fields/jobs where the current LLMs can replace humans. (Things like tech documentation, most forms of consumer-grade art (commercials, website uses, etc), research writing/distilling info from various sources, and so on. What's happening, imo, is mostly a NFT/Dutch Tulip Mania/Web 2.0 type fervor where the market has just decided, regardless of what the reality may be, that AI is *the* shit and if you're not investing in it, you're going to be the one without a chair with the music ends. They're mostly fools of course, and last I read, these LLMs aren't profitable because (for the sake of argument) it costs OpenAI $200 to do the AI work of an average user who only pays them $100 a year.

The other issue you have are the (already retarded) 400IQ MBA dickheads getting spun yarns about how they can 'reduce company overhead' by using AI (and jeets), which may 'work' in the short term but will tank the product in the mid to long term.

When using Mint (I have a 4070) and having two applications in windowed mode, say, a game and a browser window playing a youtube video, some sort of conflict or competition will happen for GPU resources which'll cause both applications to lag horribly.

It is a legally grey area. For any evidence to be admissible in court it has to have been gathered legally. Which would mean Microsoft would have to get you to sign some kind of EULA that states you give them permission to collect and use information on your computer.
If they're going through your computer files without your consent then it's probably not legal and that evidence couldn't be used in court.

Brother in christ. Gimp is for image editing, kirita is for drawing.
Yes, there is a difference. You don't use kirita to edit your holiday photos, the same way you don't use gimp to do digital drawing.

Implying they won't "accidentally" install them in a patch that you can't turn off.
Same shit they did with one drive. Had it automatically installed AND activated trough an automatic patch after I specifically denied that service and went out of my way to uninstall it.
Only found out once it started sending me error messages that it filled up my free space on microsoft servers with all the files it started uploading from my pc.
>>
>>726343057
>regedit it
And remember to do it after every single patch where they will randomly turn it on again. You never know when, but they will.

Anon who hasn't left 2009. It was a decent free lite weight open source image viewer back in the day but somewhere around windows 10 they went paid just everything else that used to be free and open source on Windows. You can still use older versions, its just the newer paid version will have more support for newer image types, so basically nothing.

you have to balance awareness with utility. having private options is valuable, but non-private has been the default since normalfags mass adopted social media, smartphones, and using their real identities online, and it sucks that windows went all in on this route, but you can still make it work for you. principled opposition means nothing to normalfags, avoid the product if it doesn't match your use case

t. on linux using mullvad browser
