The problem with BB's romance is that it's filler. It's literally just fanservice, it's not important to the "real" story at all.In order to write a good story, you need to understand its core thematic question, and if you understand it, then writing becomes pisseasy, because everything important is just an obstacle or answer to that question. In Dispatch's case, the core ideological question is "Can anyone be redeemed and become a hero, even villains and criminals?" The reason Invisigal's romance feels so narratively satisfying is because it's you, the player, providing an answer to that question. Yes, anyone can be redeemed; and not only be redeemed, but be loved.BB's romance does not make an argument on the core question in any case. You could erase her whole Mandy character point and very little would have to change to adapt to it. It wouldn't even be that hard to make her romance important, either; if I was writing it, I would've written it so that BB also betrays you in some way. Like maybe she always wanted the Phoenix program to fail because "criminals will always be criminals" or something, and she originally agreed to hire Robert with the thought that he would actually suck at the job (and eventually she changes her mind and has her own arc).
