Maybe it's not as good as you think
Maybe you did a poor job selling it to people.

You should try again, make a new game, and try to learn from your experience devloping your first game and improve as a developer.

Did anyone give you any feedback? Did you take any of that into consideration?

The two most popular games this year were indie shit, and there are plenty of other indie games that get shilled here and or recommended by others.

What AAA shit is anyone playing right now? Hollow Knight and Deltarune were the two most popular games all year. Can you really not do better than Toby Fox? Of course you can't, because you're a punk.

I see well, the questions still apply.
You need to make something truly impressive that's going to wow people in some way or another. What can you do differently? What can you offer that others cant? Or how can you refine the current systems to make them even more appealing and >fun. What does your game bring to the table. IS it fun? What is fun? How does one make a game fun? Are you doing the bare minimum to advertise your game i.e. making trailers/demos and giving it away to streamers or posting on social media?

here you have a similar looking game, but with 2000 reviews. the style and tastes of the creator seems very well developed and shines trough in the game
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2971610/HOLE/
you probably need to develop yourself, keep doing what you like, read some books on themes you find interesting, fictional or real stories
>>
>>726375268
Im guessing this is a troll post but if its not let me give you some advice, these games are not good enough to be released on steam or even anywhere at all, the production quality is so low that I'm surprised its possible in this day and age, if you want to make games and have them sell you need to put in the effort (even games with effort behind them don't necessarily sell)

If you want to continue making games, download the unreal engine/game maker etc and learn to use it, it will be easier than whatever program your using and by default will look better
>>
>>726374635
do you mean "nobody" or literally 0 people
>>
>>726378385
only 45 copies sold
>>
>>726378483
that is not bad for a first attempt, I don't think you understand how many games most people make before they achieve "success".
i've put out over 40 games of various sizes selling between 20-10,000 copies for different ones and I made dozens of very small free games before that and made mods for years before that

I don't think 45 copies is bad for a first game.
What do you want out of making games? are you looking to do it as a career? to just make what you want to make? for recognition?
You don't need to cope with anything, you should have learned a lot making it and know you can do better next time, what your take away from it should be really depends on why you made it in the first place.

then just keep at it?
depending on what your expectations are for a "community" (dozens, hundreds, thousands, etc) this is a very realistic thing you can do, especially if you specialize in a certain style of game you like.

no one strikes gold on the first go, and those who do regret it and often fail to live up to themselves.

relevant to you:
>Of course, not all games are created equal. Many are never played; in fact, 4 out of 10 games released in 2024 haven't even received ten reviews. Some are likely bad, but most are certainly just less visible, lost in the overwhelming flood of competing titles. This is where the real picture comes in: Kei games have definitely swamped the market, but they haven't exactly taken away the sales. If there's competition, it’s among Kei games themselves. What we're seeing is an almost perfect split: each segment claiming a quarter of the market.
>With a flood of new games and no change in market share, the median revenue per game collapsed by an astounding 97%—from $80k in 2012 to below $3k in 2018

'kei game' is the author's term for games below a certain budget/games with very few credited staff. i would guess your game falls under this. the second quote i posted shows how the steam greenlight changes affected avg revenue. as the author says, it's not that the huge bevy of kei games competes with AA or AAA, but rather they cannibalize each other.
