Thing about art assets is that you can't do anything major with it, because the moment someone notices that you use AI to create something big like skybox textures, they stop giving a shit about the visuals because you never gave a shit about them either. You could use it on tiny textures such as leaves but doing those is so stupidly easy and quick anyway so AI doesn't really save your time at all.Only really useful usage for AI so far was with Arc Raiders where AI was used to fill some gaps with basic voice command lines that they forgot to record on the recording day. When the voice actor shows up you can record hundreds of basic lines a day but if you ever forget a couple ones and just need to do 3 or 4 of them, then getting a voice actor in the studio just for them is costly.

There's plenty of ways to implement AI that don't directly involve LLM/generative art output that the player can see. For example, image recognition is getting pretty good. Imagine an MMORPG where you can make your character with sliders, etc. When you create your character, a screenshot is sent to a vision model that assesses how your character looks and sets all sorts of flags. That way, if you make a fucked up troll face, NPCs can actually comment on it. Nvidia and Google are way ahead though and I don't know if they are or will contribute to free models, it seems to me that it would be in Nvidia's best interest though. Also Deepmind's CEO is a gamer for what it's worth. And finally Elon was talking about AI making games too so maybe even he will chip in somehow.
