>>726498494I mean he is getting old. I don't want him to die bros. The part of the gaming industry that I actually enjoy is in the hands of old and fat dude. At best he has like 15 years left and then what?
>>726503676it did?t. zoomie
>>726498494HL3 CONFIRMED
>>726498494fay and gake
>>726503463fucking he fucking died fucking
>>726504403yes, hardware drm has always been a thingcompare it to pcs where you control everything down to the bare metal whereas modern consoles brick your shit if you go online with anything modded
If he dies it will be the end of days. No way his sons will resist the temptation. Valve will go public and it will be the greatest shitshow gaming has ever seen
>>726504596DRM then wasn't a problem unless you piratedDRM now is a problem because it kills performance and your right to own what you boughtor maybe my view is wrong cause im drunk but whtaver
>>726503676>>726504403not in the way steam does it. on old consoles you can play any disc, EXCEPT for region locks. so the same copy of a game can be sold from one buyer on to the next and the publisher makes no money from this. very frustrating for publishers, and the entire reason places like GameStop used to be profitable. they would take a big cut from essentially customers selling games to each other. you would sell your "used game" to GameStop for a ripoff price and then the next customer would buy it for like twice as much as you got. that's how they made money. Steam basically removed PC games from this market by binding copies to a user account permanently. EA also made attempts at this sort of thing with "keys" that would only work on a certain number of machines before being unusable but that shit was so easy to circumvent even normies didn't take it seriously.
>>726505316yes, steam does software drm while consoles do hardware drmand steam's rendition of that software drm is so rudimentary it gets btfod in seconds
>>726498494are we still talking about Geoffrey Epstein? This creep? that is unbelievable
>>726505316Yeah, consoles don't have DRM, you could always burn Playstation discs and pop them right in! To be fair, Sega CD and other early consoles really didn't have ant DRM.
>>726505789that was called "copy protection". yes, old console games already had copy protection. but the BIG difference with Steam DRM is that you cannot SELL a copy of a game you bought on Steam. once you buy it only that one account owns the game, no resale, no sharing (sharing accounts is against the EULA to uphold this principle).
>>726505604Fun fact, Steam actually calls steam_api platform integration in their developer docs and explicitly says that it is not intended to be used as a form of DRMSteamstub is their basic DRM, encrypted app tickets is their more complex DRM (but both are pretty easy to deal with truthfully)
>>726504571fucking he fucking died fucking fucking the fucking fucking nurse on fucking his fucking boat in the fucking sea (soon fucking fucking sea)
>>726503801kek
sooowas it worth the weight?
>>726498494Finally
>>726506230Nice try, but DRM also refers to unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material, aka pirated copies. Copy protection methods are drm by definition.
>>726506230>no sharingLmao retard
>>726498494did he drop some good loot?
>>726507004>share account>friend cheats in your favorite game and gets your account banned from said game>Valve will NOT reconsider the ban because sharing is against the rules>you have to make a second account and buy that game again and switch accounts every time you want to play ityeah, go ahead and share your account. good luck.
>>726507591You can share your games, retard. Why the fuck would you need to share your actual account?
>>726498494He's literally too big to fail.

>>726507660>You can share your games, retard. You mean with that Families feature? you got your buddies added as family members?
>>726509679just googled it>users cannot earn achievements or use online features while playing games from another accountsharing only works for singleplayer games. also the feature was only added in the last couple years, before that no sharing whatsoever.
>>726509884>sharing only works for singleplayer games. This isn't true, Rajeet. Whether the online features work is entirely up to the game's publisher.>only added in the last couple years, before that no sharing whatsoever.Holy fucking moving goalposts lol this might be the most egregious one I've seen yet
>>726498581Kojima-san!
>>726510370>couldn't share games on Steam for 20 years>but they added it last year so that means it wasn't a big factor in how publisher have embraced Steam over the last 20 yearsyou're worried about goal posts?
>>726513572>Steam's original Family Sharing was announced on September 10, 2013, and rolled out the following week.Imagine being this fucking retarded lmao Rajeet's entire life is a humiliation
