Played through Shinovi Versus after playing Estival Versus>Shinovi feels a bit faster than Estival, more so due to how the characters play>characters felt much better in Shinovi than Estival, playing Yozakura between the two games is like night and day>I also think Ikagura got it bad, due to the end lag when she puts away her sword in EV, nowhere near as fun as her SV counterpart>the only thing I would say is an improvement from Shinovi gameplay wise would be the running on wall mechanics and making the damaged animations not halt the game as much. I would say EV is still enjoyable, but I think the nerfs characters got makes me prefer SV>Day 2 and 4 of Estival's story are fucking filler chapters, which is impressive given the story doesn't really go anywhere>on that note, Estival's story gets more and more retarded the more you realized Sayuri dragged all of the girls into an interdimensional island just to push her view point on the others. Also her coughing up blood constantly doesn't go anywhere.>and unless your name is Ryobi, Miyabi, Yumi, and debatably Ryona, the cast barely have any screen time or do anything>Shinovi's story has been pretty straight forward, but far more enjoyable. I appreciate getting to know the characters a lot better, surprised that I don't dislike anyone.>in terms of customization, Estival giving you more color choices for the clothes is nice, but I think Shinovi had the better outfits (also gave the girls unique lingerie colors/patters while Estival make some share with each other)>and for me, the best Senran is Shiki, but I really do enjoy just about everyone in Shinovi
Senran games are kusoge.
>>726578505Based SV chad, Ryona is probably my favorite Senran so I was happy she got a bit more screen time in EV, but you are right about how the gameplay feels in SV. It makes me sad that Takaki left right at the peak of the series.
I'm usually not a tierfag but I hated how most of the Estival Versus characters are nigh unusable. Like Mirai has no crowd clearing capabilities at all and most of the characters are peashooter-tier just like that.
I think EV really dropped the ball by making so many attacks slower and easily punished. It turns the already super meter spam boss fights of SV even more super meter dependent. The bosses will still always perfectly counter any normal attacks and if you're within a mile of a wall they'll just wallrun on it to combo you forever.
>>726578505I remember preferring Shinovi's combat too. There was that delinquent looking girl, Dai-something, who was a fucking powerhouse and super fun to play with, but Estival gave us Kagura.I really hated what Estival did with the story because of the two, Estival seemed almost like a gag spin-off with how much characters seemed dumbed down.
The main issue I had with SV is that as soon as you get some levels in and the game starts getting fun, that storyline is over and you're back to a new set of level 1 characters for the next one.
>I also think Ikagura got it bad, due to the end lag when she puts away her sword in EV, nowhere near as fun as her SV counterpartShe has that in Burst Renewal too. It sucks.
>>726578505>unless your name is Ryobi, Miyabi, Yumi, and debatably Ryona, the cast barely have any screen time or do anythingWelcome to the whole series, and really the problem that the games ran into constantly. Go back and play SK Burst or SK2 Deep Crimson. With the cast just being ten characters in the two groups in those games, there was a lot more focus on everybody. You get a lot more sense about why Katsuragi acts the way she does, what's wrong with Haruka, and even makes Hibari somewhat interesting. But when you play Shinovi Versus, most of the cast gets flanderized, with Katsuragi just becoming "boobs boobs boobs" and Yomi just being "bean sprouts bean sprouts" and Yagyuu just saying "Hibari Hibari Hibari" all the time. They never really figured out how to juggle such large casts, and so any game where they introduced new characters, the older ones just got turned into an annoying stereotype.
>>726579574This was my problem with the Versus series. It's inflated with so many extra characters with goofier designs and silly B-plots. It's really no surprise the series has gone full mobile phone gacha now, since they pretty much prototyped the modern gacha character design and writing philosophies with the Versus games.
>>726579574>>726579907And now we get a time skip with a whole new cast. Great.
I'm glad to know that someone has been enjoying Senran Kagura games especially Shinovi Versus.
>>726579574>But when you play Shinovi Versus, most of the cast gets flanderized, with Katsuragi just becoming "boobs boobs boobs" and Yomi just being "bean sprouts bean sprouts" and Yagyuu just saying "Hibari Hibari Hibari" all the time.Interesting, I actually didn't mind Katsuragi since it did delve into her backstory a bit, but I can tell Estival ended up doing the same thing with Ima, where 85% of her dialogue is just fawning over Miyabi compared to her more down to earth, serious, and dedicated personality in SV. I'll probably give Burst and Deep Crimson a shot, since I don't mind the games being in a different genre. Does Renewal try to keep them more inline with their original characterizations or are they flanderized in that too?>>726579474>She has that in Burst Renewal too.Pain. Agony, even.>>726579323>There was that delinquent looking girl, Dai-somethingDaidouji. She also looked better in SV, they got rid of her lipstick and made her look younger in EV, despite being about a decade older than the rest of the cast.
>>726580691>Does Renewal try to keep them more inline with their original characterizations or are they flanderized in that too?Never played Burst Renewal, so you'll need to ask someone else about that.
>>726580691>Does Renewal try to keep them more inline with their original characterizations or are they flanderized in that too?Renewal is the first game with with gameplay of EV, the story is the exact same as in the 3Ds one, so you don't have to worry about there being any changes
>>726578505Estival > shinovi
Yumi peaked in Shinovi as a character and completely lost her personality going forward. Her overexposure compared to the other characters did not help matter. Also dark gray hair > light gray hair, brings out her eyes better.
Posting this compilation again.
>>726582264Handbra is Peak (the video game)
>>726582887You mean topless characters covering their breasts. Yeah, nothing explicit but it leaves something to the imagination. That said, those scenes are from official media but they aren't from the games, the games do have non-explicit 2D scenes of topless characters though.
>>726581643Ew, Yumi.
>>726582997Yes retard, that's what a handbra is.
>>726581643I was especially pissed about how the Shinovi Masters anime had all the Hanzo girls job off-screen in the first episode so the story could be about Yumi being the hero again.
>>726583539That sounds unbelievably lame.
>>726583403That's what I said, no need to be aggressive. Handbra = topless girl covering her chest.
>>726583690It is. Although you get to see Asuka get her ass handed to her, the rest are offscreen.
>>726578505The fanservice/stripping, arguably the selling point of the game, was a huge step down in EV too. SV stripped tops and bottoms separately, so you could strip an opponent topless and still keep fighting. EV damaged the entire outfit together, so there were only two playable clothing damage states, compared to six in SV.
>>726583690It's also an excuse to just not have any of the Hanzo characters in the show except for Asuka (who spends most of it brooding off-screen anyways). They all get kidnapped except for Asuka and get virtually zero screentime for the entire season. The end credits onsen sequence with everyone naked is the most screentime they get.
>>726578505We been all saying SV is better than EV in every way for years. The only fault that SV has is Hanzo's story is kinda shit because of the whole 'NUH UH, I WASN'T FIGHTING AY MY FULL STRENGTH' Gessen would pull at the end of their fight. Aside from that, the rest of the story is great especially New Hebijo. In terms of story, I think it rivals the OG.In terms of gameplay, it's acceptable but second best in the series (first being DC)
>>726584165And that arc where Asuka gets skin cancer.
The art in the last anime was really off too.
>>726585095So, the art of Ninja Flash! > the art of Shinovi Master?
I never really got over the series going a different direction than SK2. Just felt like it was spinning it's wheels forever and died off.
>>726586156Definitely.
>>726587045Shiki, no.
>>726586319It's clear the series was struggling with an identity crisis internally. SV was meant to be a spin-off which is why they experimented with different gameplay and raunchier fanservice. The director was adamant about holding onto the more serious tone and softer fanservice of Burst when they released SK2 as the first "true" sequel. When it under-performed they clearly went into a scramble and attempted to rebrand the series to be more like the spin-off starting with EV. They probably thought they had the series image going forward figured out for EV, so when the SNOY event happened and forced them to restart 7EVEN it's no wonder the director quit out of frustration. They just got done with an identity crisis and now the publisher is sending them right back to the drawing board.
For me its Ikaruga
>>726587045Shiki, yes. Senrans should be topless as often as possible.
>>726587689But Anon, her age!
>>726587813
>>726587689Why, they lack nipples.
>>726588197No they don't.
>>726588356In the games they do
>>726588594The base nude models lacking nipples isn't canon. They're also always covered by censors so you'd never be able to see this normally.
The frustrating thing is that Estival's story could've worked>split it into four stories again>Hanzo is about trying to figure out Sayuri's end goal, no idea why this wasn't really focused on>Crimson Squad goes into a debate about staying at the island, two members say yes, two say no, Hikage doesn't have a stance>Gessen can still focus on Kurokage, but the attention should be better distributed. Also show Yumi has developed since SV without turning her into a plank of wood>Hebijo can still work the way it is, but let Murasaki be emotional support for Miyabi instead of Ima, since it would let her grow her character. Ima could instead be emotional support for Ryobi. Overall, it would help make the team feel closer.>the Mikagura Sisters + Ryoki can each go to a respective team with a dedicated chapter at the end of each chapter that's tied amongst not only each other, but the other teams as well. Renka goes to Hanzo, Hanabi to Crimson Squad, Kafuru to Gessen (could also swap her with Hanabi), Ryoki with Hebijo
>>726578505Estival was a fucking mistake
>>726585095>>726586156
>>726589886Quality!
>>726578505Shinovi story mode sucks shit so EV wins greatly
>>726589886>whenever Yumi is not on screen, all characters should look around and ask, "Where's Yumi?"
Idk. Im not going to listen to anything Boco says since he has shit taste. I'll watch the anime, thanks for the recommendation.
>>726592821>I'll watch the animeThe anime is terrible, but good luck.
>>726592821Just watch episodes 2 and 3 since almost everyone is totally naked for the entire time. Everything else was garbage.
>>726591896Also she should be louder, angrier, and have access to a time machine.
>>726593001>>726593484I'm sure I'll find enjoyment. I've enjoyed every SK game, even the ones people hate. So I'm sure I'll be fine.
