AI. They need ram for the seven trillion data centers they will build that also will never turn on because there's not enough electricity.
>>
>>726647661
Everything fails and thermal cycling is what really does pc parts in. RAM is using more and more voltage which is why heatspreaders now actually matter for fast DDR5 kits (and those select golden sample DDR4 kits that will eat like 1.5v lol). RAM is very reliable but it will fail just like anything else given enough time.

This is why people into real retro computing (stuff from the 70's to late 80's) hoard memory like a dragon on its pile because the chips are failing due to age and replacements only exist by cannibalising other systems. Relatively speaking modern cpus and motherboards are extremely tolerant of mismatched RAM kits and timings (you just get common lowest denominator) but BACK IN THE DAY you used what ram the machine was specced for or get fucked.
>>
>>726647774
That was intel copers. DDR5 always performed better on the cpus that support both.

It's important to remember that as far as the market goes, AI is still in the "promise" stage and has yet to make a single fucking dime. In fact, it's really really good at wasting a ton of money instead, between sucking up ALL resources and silicons and leeching more electricity than a small country, to the point most of these datacentres can't even run with the current electrical infrastructures.

It's the same billionaire tech companies investing in each others and putting orders to prevent the bubble from bursting, but the fact remains that at some point, the money has to be paid. This is why they're trying to rope governments into the AI pyramid scheme, so that when the card house collapses, the taxpayers will hold the burden.

I’m genuinely curious if poors and lower middle class getting priced out of everything is going to cause some massive unrest. I make above average salary and even then the financial pressure for handling all necessities, holiday gift shopping and emergency funds needed to replace important or maintain it is starting to make me crack. I genuinely feel like we’re barreling into a collapse with no brakes no signs of slowing down.

It's almost fascinating how that's happening across the entire developed world. I honestly think things will go completely to hell on this continent within a decade.

This is exactly my point, giving to others SHOULDN’T be an issue but every year the multi billion dollar marketing industry revs up to upsell everyone on shit they don’t need for others and themselves making them spend beyond their needs. I would know since I come from a family who does this same thing every year, even giving tablets or phones that cost too much to friends and their kids and then they wonder why they’re always struggling financially at the end of the year. It’s insane.

AI datacenters gobble up all the silicon wafers for HBM memory on their enterprise cards. Manufacturers have DDR5 orders booked up till 2027, I shit you not.

>I don't know anyone who uses ai and therefore it's garbage
Hi anon, I use AI. Yesterday afternoon I made a program that compares my torrented video files to my re-encoded versions of those video files and only replaces the original ones with the re-encoded ones if they're at least [X]% smaller. I'm in the process of re-encoding tens of thousands of videos and this will save me literally weeks of tedious work manually comparing files. It took about about an hour to write the program and a couple more hours to optimize the UI and then debug it and harden it against edge-cases like inadvertently following symlinks. It's about 1200 lines of code.

Earlier in the month I made a custom home automation program that fucks all other home automation systems right in the ass, has no subscription cost, runs locally on my own hardware, and can be managed remotely on my phone. Roughly 1000 lines of code.

I also used it developing my game which currently sits at "very positive" with over 5000 reviews and I didn't disclose that I did so because retards like you will instantaneously start calling it slop even though you were happy with it before.

AI kicks ass and one day when you're done coping and seething you might understand.

Actually they will. Recently normalfag FPS games have tried to get higher frames on low end hardware.

You do or you wouldn't have replied

Nope, at best, the game engines themselves will either be updated to have better performance or the GPU drivers will. Devs will not and will continue to not give a shit because most consumers don't actually give a shit as long as it's (somewhat) 30fps.

With 7800x3d you might not be able to push much higher in terms of frequency but some timings like tREFI can have a big impact on performance.

I did it once for funsies but i'm never doing it again. I'm not trying to top any benchmark scoreboards so fuck doing it again.

>and then the profits come" somehow.
no, profits will never come. optimisations will come. we really don't need 8 billion people anymore, so we can optimize maybe 6 billion of them out, they cost too much money.
>>
>>726644289
who the fuck needs 96gb of ram?
